Recape: Kaning and Kavin first meet during a hospital’s 50th-anniversary celebration. After being paired together on the dance floor, they chat by the juice stand, where Kaning notices a woman with trembling hands. Concerned, Kaning advises her to get checked out, but the woman rudely dismisses her. During their conversation, Kaning accidentally spills orange juice on her dress, sparking an unexpected connection between her and Kavin.

After the orange juice spilled on Kaning’s dress, she hurried to the washroom to clean up. The night had already been full of unexpected moments, but what happened next would forever change the course of events.
As Kaning returned to the ballroom, she saw a commotion near the juice stand. The woman she had spoken to earlier—the one with trembling hands—was now lying unconscious on the floor. Her body was limp, and the color drained from her face. The lively celebration immediately faded into a tense, panicked silence as people rushed to her aid.
Kaning's instincts kicked in. “Someone call for help!” she shouted, pushing through the crowd. Her senior, Dr. Michael, who had also been attending the event, ran over to assist.
“We need to get her to the hospital, now!” Dr. Michael said urgently.
Without wasting a second, Kaning and Dr. Michael carried the woman outside to Kaning’s car. As they laid her in the backseat, Kaning quickly reached for the oxygen mask she always kept for emergencies. The woman’s breathing was shallow and irregular, and Kenin could feel the urgency of the situation building.
“Drive fast, but steady,” Dr. Michael instructed as Kaning started the engine. They sped through the city streets, the flashing lights of the hospital in the distance their only beacon of hope. Kaning kept her eyes on the road, but her mind was with the woman lying unconscious in the back, knowing that every second counted. She pumped oxygen into the woman’s lungs, praying it would be enough to stabilize her until they reached the hospital.
Once they arrived at the emergency room, the woman was rushed into surgery. The doctors worked swiftly, diagnosing her with a severe brain tumor that had likely been growing for some time. Kaning watched from behind the glass window of the operating room, her heart pounding. She knew the procedure would be complicated, and time was running out.
Inside the operating room, the woman’s condition worsened. The surgeons needed blood for a transfusion, but they couldn’t find a match. Panic surged as the patient’s vital signs weakened, and the clock ticked away. Kaning felt a pit form in her stomach. Was this woman’s life going to slip away?
Suddenly, a nurse ran in with a blood packet, matching the woman's rare blood type. Relief washed over the room. The surgeons quickly transfused the blood, and slowly, the woman’s condition stabilized. The surgery continued, and after what felt like an eternity, the chief surgeon stepped out of the operating room.
“The surgery was successful,” the doctor said with a heavy but relieved sigh. “But she’ll need to remain under observation.”
Kaning felt the weight lift off her shoulders. She and Dr. Michael had managed to keep the woman alive long enough for the surgeons to save her, but she wasn’t out of the woods yet. The team had to figure out what caused her collapse in the first place.
As the hours ticked by, Kaning sat outside the operating room, watching the clock. She had been through long, grueling nights before, but something about this case weighed on her more than usual. Maybe it was the way the woman had rudely dismissed her earlier, or the fact that she had been the one to insist she needed medical attention in the first place. Either way, Kaning couldn’t shake the feeling that this was personal.
Just as Kaning stood to leave, she saw Kavin standing nearby, his eyes catching hers. He had been there, waiting—through the entire surgery. The surprise on her face was clear. He hadn’t left.
“Why are you still here?” Kaning asked, her voice soft but curious. “It’s late. The surgery was long. You didn’t have to stay.”
Kavin shrugged slightly, his eyes never leaving hers. “I guess I just wanted to make sure everything turned out okay. I couldn’t leave after…everything that happened.”
Their eyes locked for a moment, and suddenly, the whirlwind of emotions that had surrounded the surgery gave way to something else. It was as if the intensity of the night had melted the distance that had grown between them. The silence between them was heavy, but not uncomfortable—full of things left unsaid.
“I…,” Kaning began but found herself unsure of what to say.
Kavin smiled gently, the tension breaking. “Maybe we should talk?”
Kavin nodded, her heart racing as they stepped outside together, the weight of the night still lingering, but something new growing between them—something fragile, but hopeful.
