My eyes widened then I bolted towards the man ,my fist clenched and my tone livid.

The girl sniffed ,her bottom lips trembled as she hid her face, injured.

"A man should never hit a woman, especialiary his child."I lectured, eyes wide as magic interwoven on my surface then I thrusted my hands to swipe and grab the man by moving forward but I slipped past him,I spun on my feet then I whirled, stunned and confused. The figure shimmered and continued uninterrupted.I clenched my fist and unclenched my first, surprise written on my features.I muttered a curse, swiped on his figure,it rippled and shimmered.Again,I thrusted my hands through his body.

Nothing.

It went through like my hands in water.

It was strange, but not the strangest thing that had happened to me the whole time.I was confused yet intrigued.Like ice on a lake, the realisation dawned to me .They couldn't see me.Or hear me.It was only moving photos broadcasted and brought to life.

"Goddess Above,"I gasped, shock ran through my veins at the revelation. All this time ,The Child never knew of my presence.

Was this a vision?

Was this poor girl in a purgatory or this was a vision, her eventual reality.Questions swirled in my head like the roasted fish we cooked on the hearth, whirling and spinning over the flames.

The more I went through this garden of memories—I even saw happy memories, memories I never expected that my eyes would ever savour or even see.

All this time,I always saw this place as hell or hellish.

In one of them, her eyes were lit up and she was smiling from ear to ear but dressed in a strange outting gear, not a gear but a summer attire with a black top.An young man was next to her,he looked like the sun ,all smiles and laughs and messy hair as he stretched out his hand towards her,a woven bracelet swayed on his wrists.

A feeling of protectiveness washed over me and a heavy, tight feeling formed on my chest,I glanced at the young man annoyed.

They walked together and smiled and laughed, the boy gesticulated wildly and played with his hands as if he cast a spell but they bursted into laughter and continued their bye, shimmering like crystals next to me.

I groaned ,annoyed and crossed my arms around my chest and avoided the reflection of the two childern.Agaain, a strange sense of annoyance for the young man was apparent but then my feet moved away on its own accord and this time I was happy. These memories weighed my heart down like an anchor ,took the air out of my lungs.

In one memory:Her back was against something,a wall but they didnt show, her head in her arms cradled as her body convulsed and tears ran down her arms.Another, her palms pressed against her ears hard as she shut her eyes tightly. She flinched and behind her was two figures, the man and a woman. Her hair was like rope and her eyes were wild as they both fought, hands raised and open mouths. The man shoved the lady against the small wall and she yelled at him, clawed at his face like a wild animal. Then she dissolved into tears and cradled her oval face in her hands, convulsing ,just like her daughter.

I raked her with my eyes,a lump formed on my throat hard as I watched her in horror and sound around her glittering hunched form and just by her convulse, clenched teeth and eyes shut so tight. Her parents were arguing but it must have been such a common occurrence that it triggered her so bad.I itched to walk towards the Child, wrap my arms around her and tell her everything is alright—but I was lying. It was not going to get better, like at all for her.

All I did was watch, helplessly watch with my legs spread and palms rubbed my elbow slowly as my eyebrows went down and expression fell with it.Soured.But here I was helpless and useless ,useless as Bar would warn me sternly to my face with a long finger.Useless like a baby child now walking or waddling.Useless like a whining lady or a fat, plumy seal who can't swim or a fey who cant cause tricks or do vivid hallucinations to their mortal victims.
