My mind burst with the millions of possibilities regarding this sentence. The future was circling around my head. What was I supposed to make out of it?
"What do you mean?" I asked staring down at him.
She would die? What did he mean by that?
"You didn't think I came alone, did you?"
A horror clouded upon my face as he chuckled silently with blood coming out of his mouth.
There were more and she was alone at this hour, Jenna was alone! No Elizabeth. She was my sole priority right now.
"Where is she?" I glared at him from down my lashes and held out my hand to separate his head.
"Good luck, Ed." He murmured.
He stood up onward such that making me fall on my back; pride laced his blue eyes as he kicked me in my abdomen and ran away before I could chase him.
Nevertheless he was not my problem yet. I had bigger problems at hand right now.
Elizabeth’s scent was always stuck in my lungs for more than an hour even after her departure. I should be able to sense her out.
With that thought, I let my instincts take over to get a better view of my surroundings. The worst part of that process was hunger.
As soon as my demon was out of restraints he came at me with all his might, manipulating me into being the monster I wasn’t—I was escaping from.
I tried to sniff her scent out and to some extent I did, but the thoughts of my acquaintances playing around with her like kittens playing with a mouse stuffed my mind so much that my nostrils were filled with their scent and I could feel her no more.
I still couldn't believe Mason didn't trust me enough to leave me with Elizabeth. There was no point of sending Joseph and his friends here.
No wonder I always hated his ways. He was oppressive and a borderline brain-dead psychopath.
There was no point of arguing with Lords and everyone seemed to blindly trust his commands for no reason at all.
I kept walking as my skin gradually healed but the mud on my attire was the evidence of my defeat in a battle I knew so well I didn’t have a chance in.
Joseph had become so powerful. I doubted it was Mason’s guidance that made him so.
I dawdled, scampered, and occasionally walked trying to catch even a hint of her smell but all I could feel were vampires and their fangs pressing together at some far distance.
I kept walking until I was welcomed by a familiar scent.
My eyes perched on the women in violet slim top and tight jeans. Her brunette hair fell over her shoulder in curvy waves. I knew from her childish eyes that she was Elizabeth's aunt.
"Edward!" She ran towards me.
I should've run when I had the chance. I was in no mood to deal with her questions but my demons had other plans for her.
"Jenna. You shouldn't be here." I took her cold palms in mine.
They were adjusted into warm weather after they were placed between my palms. I looked down at her face to see wariness that masked the low-spirits of her always-so-lightened face.
"Aman bailed on me." She sighed.
Her eyes searched my side for Elizabeth and then looked at me with a questioning look.
All the while my demon was checking out something else; the vein that ran up along the curve of her neck, the joining of her shoulder and bare neck.
"Where is she?" She questioned.
