[Katerina]

I stood frozen on the spot as I tried to figure out how he got in here without me detecting him.

How did you get in here? What do you want?

I came through the window obviously, and I'm here to give you the answers that you seek.

The answers that I seek. Maybe I was right about him knowing more about me. But could I actually trust whatever information he gave me?

Tell me who you are first, and how do you know me?

My name is Cato, and I know you by association since I work for your parents.

And what exactly do you do for my parents?

I think it would be easier if I explained who you are first.

Who I am?

I thought back to my first encounter with Cato. He'd mentioned something about my real identity. I was finally going to find out exactly what he meant by that.

Who am I?

You, my dear Katerina, are the long-lost princess of Greystone.

I shook my head in disbelief. "No fucking way that's true."

A princess? Of all the things he could've told me, this was the last thing I expected to hear. How could someone like me have royal blood flowing through my veins?

I understand that it may be hard to believe, but I speak the truth. You are royalty.

I leaned back against my window. I was a princess. Me. A delinquent. I didn't even fit the criteria of being a princess. So many different questions drifted through my mind. I didn't know what to ask about first.

I take it you have many questions. I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

My parents. Who are they?

Your father's name is Anubis and your mother's name is Luna. Before I answer the next question you have, I have one of my own. How much of your past do you remember?

Not much. My memory is still hazy.

You still suffer from amnesia.

How could he have known that?

I've been lurking around for a while if that's what you're wondering.

Of course you have. This whole telepathy thing is weird. Mind shifting?

As you wish, princess.

God. There was no way I'd get used to having that title.

I watched as Cato's form shifted from wolf to a more human-like figure. The lamp on my desk clicked on, eliminating some of the darkness in the room and allowed me to see Cato fully.

He was tall and muscular with curly black hair that slightly covered his luminous yellow eyes. He wore a black and white hoodie with black cargo pants and black boots.

"Better?" he asked.

"Much better," I replied.

"You can come closer if you'd like. There's no reason for you to worry."

He hadn't lied to me yet, so I suppose I could trust him. I walked over to my desk chair and sat down. I studied Cato to make sure he wasn't actually going to attack me the moment I let my guard down.

"Relax, princess. I'm not going to attack you. That would defeat the purpose of my job."

"And what's your job exactly?"
