The Sweetheart's Festival was just a week away, and Blitzo saw it as an excellent opportunity to showcase their performing skills and make some extra money. Meanwhile, Moxxie and Millie viewed it as the perfect chance to play matchmaker. Normally, they wouldn't meddle in Alastor's love life, but a festival centered around love seemed like an ideal moment for him to express his feelings for Charlotte. Knowing Alastor, however, he would likely let the opportunity slip by. So, the couple decided to engage in a little light meddling for his sake, just a little.
"Is that really wise?" Blitzo asked, skepticism etched on his face. "Everyone's looking for him over there. They think he's the beast that killed all those people."
"If he wears his cloak like he did last time, no one will recognize him." Moxxie replied confidently.
Millie nodded enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Exactly! Plus, the festival is all about love and connection. It's the perfect atmosphere for Alastor to finally confess his feelings to Charlotte. We just need to give him a little push in the right direction."
Blitzo raised an eyebrow, still unconvinced.
"And what if things go south? You know how Alastor can get when he feels cornered. He might just scare everyone away."
Moxxie shrugged, trying to remain optimistic.
"We'll just have to make sure he's careful. Which he is... most of the time."
"Just don't tell him about our involvement." Millie warned. "If he finds out, he'll do everything he can to avoid going."
"And what makes you think he'll go even if he doesn't know about your little scheme? How are you going to convince him to come along?" Blitzo pressed.
"Leave that to me." Moxxie said with a determined grin. "I know the perfect way to persuade someone like him."
As soon as Moxxie found himself alone with Alastor, he brought up the festival. As expected, Alastor dismissed the idea, claiming that a romantic event filled with couples acting all lovey-dovey was no place for him. Moxxie, anticipating this response, countered smoothly.
"You know Charlotte will be at the festival too."
"Naturally. She's always been a hopeless romantic and a lover of festivals." Alastor replied, his tone indifferent.
"But couples won't be the only ones attending. There will be plenty of single people there—single men, likely hoping to find a wife. And Charlotte is so beautiful; she'll probably spend the entire night deciding which one should be her husband."
Alastor raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite himself.
"You think so?"
Moxxie leaned in, lowering his voice conspiratorially.
"Absolutely. She's the right age, a beauty, and she can cook and clean. No man will be able to resist her, and she's not getting any younger, girls her age are already having children."
Alastor's interest was piqued, and he leaned back in his chair, contemplating Moxxie's words.
"Hmm, you make a compelling argument, Moxxie. But what do I care if she finds a husband? It's not like I'm in the running for that position."
"Exactly. Why should you care if some handsome, charming young man sweeps her off her feet? Or if another man dances with her? Or holds her? Or kisses her? Or carries her off to marry? Why should you care at all if she decides to spend the rest of her life with someone who isn't you?"
Alastor bit his lip, clenching his fists, desperately trying to suppress his jealousy. The thought of any man taking Charlotte away from him ignited a fire of anger and desperation in his heart. He had always suspected he would eventually lose her to a prince or some other gentleman, but he wasn't ready to let that happen just yet.
