Mark led them to a room to his room on the third floor, the door creaking as he pushed it open.
What I imagine the bedroom would look like as far as the concept
"This your space for tonight," he said, gesturing to the bed. "I'll sleep on the floor."
As he walked to the bathroom, the women exchanged grateful glances.
Mark shut the door behind him, letting out a deep breath. He splashed water on his face, feeling the cool liquid calm his nerves.
As he dried his face, his stoic attitude took over.
He walked back to his room, shutting the door behind him.
"Are you all okay?" he asked, his eyes scanning their faces.
They nodded, but Mark detected the hint of pain in Ada's eyes.
"What's going on in this compound?" Mark asked, his brow furrowed. "It's called New Eden, but there's nothing heavenly about it."
Ada hesitated before speaking.
"A lot is going on underneath the surface. Prostitution is just the tip of the iceberg.
Rainell added.
"Ada and I have been here since we were kids. The General invaded our homes, took us away."
Mark's eyes narrowed.
"Only girls were taken?"
Ada shook her head.
"There are boys, but we don't know what happened to them."
Mark asked.
"How old are you all?"
Ada replied.
"I'm actually thirty-one years old."
Rainell added.
"I'm twenty-six years old."
Emily spoke up.
"I'm twenty-one. Been here for a year now."
Mark smiled slightly.
He removed his shirt, revealing his chiseled physique. The woman's eyes widened.
"I feel more comfortable without a shirt," Mark said, removing his shoes and socks.
Emily's gaze fell on Mark's scar on his torso.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice gentle.
Mark downplayed it.
"Just a reminder."
