I'm just a normal boy who goes to a regular middle school, and my name is Gin. I think I'm normal like everyone else, and
My mom: Honaki
My dad: Gin, yeah, I got my name from my dad.
My little sister: Layla
The youngest in the family is my brother, and his name is Kino.
Yeah, I'm the oldest in the family.
Anyway, let me begin my story:It was a spring day, a Monday morning at 7:00 AM. I woke up for school, but everyone in the house was still asleep. I quietly prepared something for myself and started eating. It was already 8:00, and I had to be at school by 8:40.
I got ready and started walking to school. On the way, as usual, I saw my closest friend from class. I greeted him, and we continued walking. My friend's name is Rino.
"Hey, what's up, Rino?""Wow, Gin! We didn't see you since you got injured. Are you feeling any better now?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, but my arm still hurts a bit."
"Haha, that'll pass too, Gin," he said and handed me a juice box, which I gladly accepted.
Before we knew it, we had already arrived at school. We headed to our classroom and sat in our seats. The first lesson was math, my least favorite subject. I always think, 'What else could they ask besides addition or multiplication?' But, of course, Rino doesn't think like that. He's the smartest in the class.
Before long, we were already at the break after the 7th lesson, which was the last break before the 8th and final class. I was walking in the corridor when I saw Reiko, a very old friend of mine. I started to approach her to say hello, but she ignored me. My heart sank because I had a crush on her towards the end of elementary school, even though I could never tell her.
The bell rang—it was the last class. After it ended, I started walking home with a sad look on my face, lost in thought, when I saw Reiko again. I approached her and finally managed to say hello."Hey Reiko, how are you?"
"Wow, Gin! Long time no see. I'm good. How about you?"
A bit taken aback, after a brief silence, I said,
"I-I'm fine, just like always," even though it was a lie."Wow, Gin, I didn't expect to see you. You know, I just moved here, and I've been waiting for someone to show me around. I've been thinking about it constantly. Could you show me around this weekend?" she asked.
"Oh, of course, Reiko. The moment I found out you moved here, I was thinking the same thing. I'll show you around this Saturday, for sure. By the way, I saw you in the school corridor today. I was really surprised to see you here. Why did you move here? You had a nice life and home in our old town."
For a moment, Reiko's eyes filled with tears. After a brief silence, she said,
"G-Gin, please, let's not talk about this now. Maybe another time?" And she quickly walked away, saying, "Anyway, have a good evening." She walked off fast, leaving me behind, and I couldn't stop thinking that something terrible must have happened to her. I felt guilty.
I got home, ate my dinner, and retreated to my room. After a while, my little sister knocked on the door and came in. She said, "Big brother, are you okay? Did something happen?""No, nothing's wrong, Layla. You can go to your room or do whatever you want. I just want to be alone in my room for a while," I said. Then my little sister hugged me.
"Okay, but please don't be sad, big brother."
With a small smile, I said, "Okay, I won't be sad for you," and she ran out of the room with her little steps. Then, I fell asleep, wondering what tomorrow would bring.
