35. Should We Tell The Court?

Bryan pondered overnight, and in the end, he came up with the conclusion that Janet was right, If any lords were going to adopt her, they would do so after bedding her. He'd hate that, he hated to have her serve his father too. But she seemed to be okay with that. Therefore he was okay with it.

Sally massaged Lord Wyatt's arms and legs, while Janet played instruments. Sally was always smiling and didn't say much. She helped Lord Wyatt to change and sleep. At night, she poured drinks into his cup.

Sally put Lord Wyatt to sleep for a nap, then she and Janet went outside.

"Is his Lordship treating you well?"

Sally nodded. "He doesn't talk. But he is gentle. He isn't happy with Bryan."

Janet nodded. "I could see why. Please put in good words for me."

"Of course!" said Sally.

"Drink!" called out Lord Wyatt.

They went back to his chamber, and Sally poured a drink into his cup. Lord Wyatt drank.

"How is Bryan?"

"He is doing great, my lord," said Janet.

"I am happy you are with him," said Lord Wyatt. "You make him happy and he you. But you must never forget your place. You are my son's concubine."

"A plaything sir?"

"Exactly," said Lord Wyatt.

"I shall bear in mind sir," said Janet. "Another drink sir?"

Lord Wyatt put out his cup and she poured drink into his cup.

She indeed was pretty, but he gave Bryan his words, and he intended to keep those words. Instead, he got Sally.

Sally was tired, but Lord Wyatt wasn't.

"Bernedette."

Lord Wyatt talked in his sleep

That next morning, she woke up in his bed, He was not there, servants brought her breakfast. She was drinking her coffee when Lady Rosaline walked in, and she got up.

"My lady."

"Is he treating you well?"

"I am doing my best, ma'm," said Sally. "His Lordship is gentle."

Lady Rosline knew she was lying, but she decided to be fooled. She snapped her finger, and the servants brought her a bowl of medicine.

"I don't think it would be good for you to be a mother."

"No ma'm;." said Sally and she drank from the bowl. "Who is Bernadette? Lord Wyatt has been calling her name all night."

"Bryan's birthmother,"said Lady Rosline.

Still? Bernadette?

Lady Rosline sighed.

"My lady, Miss Vanessa is back from the palace."

Vanessa was tired but she was happy. She was starting to like the court. Not the people though, Catherine still disliked her. Aria wasn't her fan either. The Arrindels were not oriented so to speak, she had more reason to dislike her.

But the adults said so they spent time together. They mostly drew and sang together. They tried to talk, but the talks didn't last longer than a minute. It was so awkward, that Catherine decided that she liked it this way for now. She wanted to assume the Wyatts and warn the Arindels. But nothing for now.
