One day, as Olympia walked to school, her best friend Kalopi rushed up to her, a wide grin on her face.
"Hey Olympia! Did you hear about the party happening this weekend?" Kalopi asked eagerly.

Olympia raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Yeah, I heard about it. What about it?"
Kalopi leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "It's going to be huge," she gushed. "All the cool kids are going to be there, and there's gonna be music, dancing... it's gonna be so awesome!"

Olympia chuckled at her friend's enthusiasm. "Sounds like it'll be quite the party," she agreed. "You're definitely going, huh?"
Kalopi nodded vigorously, her excitement palpable. "Of course! I mean, who wouldn't want to go? It's going to be the event of the year!"

*TIME SKIP*

Walking into the party, Olympia confidently strutted past the line of people waiting to get in. Her black dress, which left little to the imagination, caught the attention of many partygoers, but she paid them no mind. She scanned the room until she spotted her best friend Kalopi, who waved her over to the makeshift dance floor.
Making her way through the throng of dancers, Olympia joined Kalopi, beginning to move to the beat. They were soon enveloped in their own little world, dancing without a care in the world.
As they danced, Olympia could feel a pair of eyes on her.

She quickly knew exactly whose eyes were on her - Ares. He sat in a booth, his legs sprawled out, his gaze fixated on her every move. The intensity of his stare sent shivers down her spine, but at the same time, she couldn't deny the thrill it gave her.
She and Kalopi continued to dance, their bodies moving in perfect harmony. The music was loud, the lights were low, and it felt like the rest of the world faded away.

As they danced, Olympia found herself stealing glances at Ares, his relaxed pose in the booth both irritating and tantalizing. She could see the hint of a smug smile on his face, like he knew exactly the effect he was having on her.
Their eyes met every so often, and each time it happened, a jolt of electricity coursed through her. She tried to ignore it, focusing on her dance with Kalopi, but she couldn't deny the way his gaze made her heart race.

Hours passed as the two continued to dance, and the atmosphere grew more heated. Olympia could feel the stares of other guys in the room, but she only had eyes for one - Ares. His unwavering gaze from the booth sent a thrill through her every time she looked his way.
Her body was pressed against Kalopi's, their movements in perfect sync. The music filled her ears, the bass thumping in time with her pulse. She could feel the heat radiating off of her friend and the sweat on her own body.

The night wore on, and the party showed no signs of slowing down. The dance floor was crowded with people grinding against each other, the energy in the room reaching new heights.
As she continued to dance, Olympia struggled to keep her focus on Kalopi, her movements becoming more erratic. Every time she looked up at Ares, he was still watching her, his gaze unwavering. It was as if he had cast a spell over her, making her powerless to resist his stare.

Despite the heat and the closeness of the crowd, Olympia felt a shiver run down her spine every time her gaze met Ares', the tension between them practically palpable. She continued to dance with Kalopi, trying to lose herself in the music and the movement, but her thoughts kept drifting back to the boy watching her from the booth.
She found herself wondering what he was thinking, what he would do if she went over and joined him. The thought was both exciting and terrifying at the same time.

The hours ticked by, and the crowd began to thin out. Olympia and Kalopi were nearing the end of the night, both exhausted but happy. Despite her fatigue, Olympia could still feel Ares' gaze on her, his presence like a shadow following her every move.
As the party started to wrap up, Olympia and Kalopi decided to head home. As they gathered their belongings, Olympia glanced over at the booth where Ares had been sitting for the past several hours. To her surprise, he was nowhere to be seen.

Confused and feeling a pang of disappointment, Olympia scanned the emptying venue for any sign of Ares. But he was nowhere to be found. She shook her head, chalking it up to his usual impulsive behavior.
As she and Kalopi made their way to the entrance, she couldn't help but wonder where he had gone. Had he left the party without saying goodbye? Or was he just trying to play some mind game with her?

As she and Kalopi walked home, Olympia's mind was still preoccupied with thoughts of Ares. Why had he left without saying goodbye? Was it just a cruel power play, or did he truly not care about her at all?
Then the realization hit her - of course he wouldn't say goodbye. After all, she hated him, and he hated her. It was a simple, harsh truth.

As Olympia walked home with Kalopi, the cool night air whipped around them, making her shiver. She chided herself for not bringing her car, silently cursing her own forgetfulness. But as they continued walking, she found her mind drifting away from the cold night to a different thought - why had Ares left without saying goodbye?
Their tumultuous relationship had always been complicated, but the fact that he could leave without a word stung more than she cared to admit.

Shaking off her brooding thoughts, Olympia turned to Kalopi and said, "You can crash at mine tonight if you want."
Kalopi nodded enthusiastically, clearly grateful for the offer. "Thanks, Olymp. You're the best."
As they continued the walk to Olympia's house, she tried to push the thoughts of Ares out of her head. It was the weekend, after all. She deserved to relax and have fun without brooding over him.

The two girls quickly set up a makeshift sleeping space on Olympia's bedroom floor. Kalopi laid out a bed of blankets and pillows, creating a comfortable spot for the both of them.
As they settled in for the night, lying side-by-side, Olympia couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. They had spent many nights like this, talking and giggling into the early morning hours. It was a strange sense of comfort.

As they lay there on the makeshift bed, Kalopi suddenly turned to Olympia and said with a cheeky grin, "Hey, dummy, why don't we just sleep in your bed? It's more comfortable than the floor."
Olympia pretended to be annoyed, rolling her eyes at her friend's lack of filter, but secretly, she was glad for the suggestion.

"You're pushy, you know that?" Olympia retorted with a smirk, giving her friend a playful shove.
Kalopi let out a laugh. "Hey, I'm just thinking practically. Don't pretend you're not secretly happy about it too."
Olympia couldn't deny it. The thought of sharing her bed was a lot more appealing than sleeping on the floor all night. "Fine, whatever," she mumbled, feigning begrudging acceptance.

Kalopi let out another laugh, clearly enjoying Olympia's reluctant agreement. "You're not as tough as you pretend to be, you know?" she teased.
Olympia rolled her eyes but didn't argue. She knew her friend was right. As they stood up and made their way over to Olympia's bed, Kalopi called over her shoulder, "I call dibs on the side near the wall."

Olympia playfully stuck her tongue out. "Oh, of course you do."
Kalopi climbed into the bed and sprawled out, claiming the prime spot next to the wall. Olympia got in next to her, feeling a mix of amusement and resignation at her friend's predictability.

The two girls settled into bed, the quiet darkness of the room enveloping them. Kalopi quickly fell asleep, her soft snores filling the air.
Olympia lay there, staring up at the ceiling, her mind wandering despite the late hour. Thoughts of the party and Ares were still swirling in her mind, but she soon found her eyelids growing heavy.
With a sigh, she closed her eyes and let sleep claim her.
