**Chapter 13: A Rare Power**

Amara paced the floor of her bedroom, the air thick with tension. The crimson hue of the setting sun seeped through her curtains, casting an ominous glow over her room. She could feel it again—her power, growing, stretching beyond anything she had ever known. The once subtle hum in her veins was now a raging storm, threatening to consume her.

It had started just days ago, small at first—sharper senses, quicker reflexes. But now, it was undeniable. Amara was changing, evolving in ways even Lucien hadn’t anticipated. She wasn’t just any vampire. She was something more, something rare. And that scared her.

She glanced at herself in the mirror, her reflection revealing eyes that glowed faintly with a power she hadn’t yet mastered. Her thoughts spun in every direction. What if this strength spiraled out of control? What if she became a danger to Lucien? To Crimson hollow? These questions swam through her head.

Lucien had tried to reassure her, but she could see the unease in his eyes, no matter how much he tried to mask it. He didn’t fully understand what was happening to her—no one did. Amara’s lineage had always been mysterious, but now it seemed that mystery carried a deadly weight.

Sitting on the edge of her bed, she clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. "How is this going to change us?" she whispered to the silence. She couldn't shake the feeling that her bond with Lucien would be tested in ways they weren't prepared for.

If her powers were this amplified, what else would change? Would Lucien's enemies come after her now, seeing her as a threat? Would they be able to live the life they had dreamed of, or was this just the beginning of something far darker?

As the night deepened, a cold realization settled over Amara. She wasn't just worried about how this would affect Lucien or her crimson hollow—she was worried about how it would affect her. What if she lost herself to this power? What if, one day, she woke up and wasn’t Amara anymore?

The thought was chilling.

But there was no running from it. She had to embrace who she was becoming, even if that meant facing the unknown head-on. With a shaky breath, Amara stood up, her eyes once again meeting her reflection. The glow had intensified, but this time, she didn’t flinch.

“I won’t let it control me,” she murmured, determination lacing her voice. "I’m stronger than this."

As she stepped out of her room and into the night, she knew one thing for certain: she couldn’t do this alone. Lucien had to know the full extent of what was happening to her. Together, they would either find a way to harness this power—or be consumed by it.
