Struggling with the doorknob while it was locked, Ronald and Jenny quickly got dressed. Ronald jumped out of the window and ran toward his place, while Jenny hurried to put things in order in her room before unlocking the bedroom door to let her dad in.When Joseph entered, he asked, "What did I tell you about locking doors?"
"I just wanted more time in my room, is that a bad thing?" Jenny replied.
"I didn't say it was a bad thing. I just don't like the idea," Joseph said.
"Fine, it won't happen again," Jenny muttered.
Joseph then noticed the scarf that Jenny had taken out to give Ronald the other day. Seeing it in her room now made it clear to him that she was seeing Ronald again.
"Were you with someone here?" Joseph asked.
"No, it was just me, Dad," Jenny said.
"I don't have any proof, but I'm not sure you're telling the truth either," Joseph replied.
"Alright, I'm going to make some dinner. Meet me at the table in 20 minutes." He left the room to start cooking.
Jenny stayed in her room, sitting on her bedside, still absorbed by what had happened with Ronald a few minutes ago.
When dinner was ready and Jenny was still at her bedside, her dad called out, "Sky, didn't I tell you to meet me in 20 minutes? It's been 30 minutes already!"
She eventually went to the dinner table, and no one said anything. Only the sounds of chewing, drinking, forks clinking, and swallowing filled the silence.
Meanwhile, Ronald was still running along the road. On his way home, he noticed his mom's car in the driveway. He acted casually, went to the bathroom to clean up, and then started preparing something to eat. His mom wasn’t staying; she told him she was heading out to get some groceries. Ronald offered to help, but she insisted on going alone.
As she went out, Candice wasn’t going to the grocery store, she was meeting someone at a bar. She headed to the bar to meet up with Joseph.
After finishing dinner with his daughter, Joseph said goodbye to her and told her he had some late-night duty. Jenny mentioned she would finish reading her books and head to bed afterward. She cleaned up the plates as Joseph left to meet Candice at the bar.
Candice was the first to arrive, while Joseph showed up about 15 minutes later. They greeted each other with a kiss, sat down, and ordered some drinks.
Candice: "So, how are things at the station?"
Joseph: "Just the usual, same work, same victims, nothing more."
Candice: "Really? How about the crime rate? Is it going up or coming down at the moment?"
Joseph: "Am I being interviewed?"
Candice chuckled: "No, no, it’s just out of curiosity."
Joseph: "No, I’m just messing with you. Well, to be honest, it’s a bit of both. I might even say 50/50."
Candice: "I’m not sure how to respond to that."
Joseph, laughing: "Well, neither do I."
They continued to chat about everyday life and things happening at work, but they never talked about their kids with each other. Both knew the other had children, but they kept them out of the relationship. Neither of them knew the other’s kid, and they liked it that way, for now.
Meanwhile, Jenny was about to leave her house to surprise Ronald at his place. She stepped out of her house and headed straight to Ronald's. When she arrived, she threw a rock at his window. Ronald opened it, looking down to see her beautiful face. He hurried to open the door.
As soon as he opened it, he hugged her so tightly that it felt like their skin might merge. She held on just as tight, and after a moment, they stared at each other.
Jenny: "I like your scent."
Ronald: "I love everything about you."They both chuckled as they made their way to the bedroom. Ronald took out his guitar and began to play a song he had recently written, describing her beauty, her body, and everything he loved about her. Jenny sat beside him on the bed, listening.
Ronald: "My dad told me, 'If you want to find the right girl, just look at her feet. What she's wearing could tell you everything about her.'"
Jenny: "Well, my mom told me that if you really want to know a guy, look at how he cares about his hair."
Ronald: "Why? Is something wrong with my hair?"
Jenny: "Is there something wrong with my feet?"They both ended up laughing it off. Ronald excused himself to go to the bathroom while Jenny roamed around his room, looking at his things. Suddenly, they heard a thud from the living room, as if someone was trying to get into the house. Then, the sound of breaking glass confirmed it, they were being robbed.
Ronald quietly sneaked out of the bathroom and returned to his room where Jenny was.
"I think there are robbers in the living room," Ronald whispered. He told her to stay down, remain calm, and lock the door behind him as he went to see what was going on.
He silently made his way to the living room without being noticed. Crouched against a wall, he peeked around the corner to see who was inside. There were two masked men trying to gather everything valuable. Ronald had an idea to lure one of them closer by throwing something across the room. He tossed an object onto the floor.
Burglar 1: "What was that?"
Burglar 2: "Go check it out."
Burglar 1: "I thought you said this house was empty, no one was here."
Burglar 2: "It looked like it was. Quick, go check it out. It's probably nothing."The first burglar moved toward the sound. As he closed in, Ronald quickly tripped him, causing him to fall. Ronald immediately put him in a headlock as the burglar struggled, twisting left and right, trying to catch his breath, until he finally passed out. Ronald let go and dragged the burglar’s body away to hide it.
"Hey, is anyone there? What did you find ?" The other burglar asked. As Ronald moved unnoticed toward the living room, unnoticed he spotted the burglar holding a knife in his hand, they locked eyes and Ronald charged at him, throwing a chair. The burglar dodged the chair, but Ronald followed up by jumping and delivering a knee to his chest. In the struggle, the burglar managed to slightly cut Ronald on the side of the shoulder with his knife. Ronald threw a punch at him landing straight to his face busting his nose. The burglar held his face. Dropping the knife. Ronald then speared him down the ground making the burglar hit his head and passed out
