The woman slowly emerged from behind a tree. I was slightly surprised when I saw her face—it was Hinata Sakaguchi, the one from Shizu-san's memories.

The most important thing now was to prepare to be friendly. "Hello, do you have business with us?"

She ignored me, her eyes only fixed on the piece of paper she was holding, and murmured, "Hmm... You match the description, Rimuru Tempest... Queen of the Tempest nation. And beside you, I suppose that's a bodyguard?"

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A BODY—MHH?" The old man would keep talking if I didn't shut him up. I glanced back and gave him a friendly smile while covering his mouth. "Aren't you mistaken? We're just adventurers." Then I whispered to Veldora, "Be quiet, I'll handle this."

He nodded in response, slowly releasing his hold. He crossed his arms beside me while watching Hinata.

She looked at me coldly and threw away the paper she was holding. "Your country is a nuisance... So I intend to destroy it. It would be inconvenient if you went home now." She then drew the rapier at her waist and pointed it at me.

"Nice to meet you, Commander of the Western Holy Church... Hinata Sakaguchi."

"Heh... For a slime, you know quite a bit..." she replied lazily.

"I know the Western Holy Church has a belief in killing monsters, but... How did you find out that I'm a slime?" I asked with a friendly smile.

Hmm... My head tilted upwards... So that's it... She's set up a barrier.

"You noticed, didn't you?... In this barrier, magic won't work, but I commend you for staying calm in a situation like this."

Both Veldora and I remained silent, still observing Hinata.

"Shall I start?"

"First of all, I'd like to talk to you first."

"I'm not interested in talking to monsters."

She suddenly lunged, thrusting her rapier towards my heart. Our swords met, and I still told Veldora to stay quiet... Hinata was Shizu-san's student, and I sensed something unusual about her. Raphael-sensei mentioned that she was being controlled.

"As I suspected, the leader of the monsters is indeed strong; you're not even affected by this barrier," she spoke with a calm tone.

Veldora still had his arms crossed with his eyes closed.

Hinata then ran back, attacking with her rapier.

Damn, her sword techniques are far superior to mine. Our swords clashed, creating a large shockwave and ear-piercing noise.

Each of her attacks was quite difficult for me to block.

*Clang!*

I stepped back a few paces and looked up; it was Veldora who had destroyed the barrier. He watched us with his arms crossed and a calm expression.

Old man... For some reason, you're quite cool now. I even laughed at that thought.

Hinata was slightly surprised because the barrier set by the church had been shattered so easily without her realizing it.

"Hinata, right? Shizu-san told me a few things about you."

I was still trying to negotiate, but of course, it would fail... Because her mind was being controlled, there was no other option but to stop her first and then talk.

"Meaning, Shizu-sensei asked for your help?" She looked at me with a mocking smile.

"I can infer from your appearance... You've '" and then she lunged again to attack me, "Seized her form!"
