When Azelia dropped Kỳ back at home, he noticed something in Kezia's eyes as he closed his front door. Since they had gotten back from the trip, Kezia looked at him with a raging conflict in his eyes, like he had something he wanted to tell him but couldn't decide whether or not he should. Kỳ had wanted to ask him about it but once school had started, he suddenly never saw him by his locker or in the hallway. He caught glimpses of him on his way to class but that was it.

"What's wrong? You look more upset than usual." Dante sat next to Kỳ.

They were finding our seats in the English classroom and waiting for the teacher to arrive.

"I'm just worried about Kezia. He's been avoiding me and something looks like it's seriously bothering him."

"I'm sure if it's bothering him so much, he'd tell you," Dante scoffed.

Kỳ frowned. "I know you don't like the guy but could you at least pretend to like him for my sake? He's my..." He cleared his throat. "It actually doesn't matter what he is to me. But he means something to me, and it would be nice if my best friend could show some genuine empathy. I'm not asking you to have a threesome, I'm just asking you to be happy for me and mean it."

"Well sorry I can't just do that." Dante slid down in his chair and folded his arms.

"You're so selfish it's disgusting you know that? I've been supportive of every decision you make, and you cannot even let me enjoy my relationship in peace." Kỳ checked behind him to make sure no one was listening, and thankfully him and Dante were whispering quiet enough for their conversation to pass under the radar of the gossip hungry cheerleading team.

"It's not that I'm not happy for you," he sighed. "You've got to understand-"

"Oh sure you're not. You're definitely happy for me." Kỳ slumped in his seat and groaned.

"Hey. Don't make me the bad guy. I'm allowed to dislike whomever I like," he retorted. "You can't decide that for me."

"I know. That's exactly why I've decided I just won't tell you anything about Kezia." The door opened.

"I didn't say you should-"

"The teacher's here." Kỳ stood up to greet the woman who'd entered the small classroom.

He glanced at Dante and sighed. "I'm not mad at you," I whispered. "Just really disappointed."

Dante had joined in on avoiding Kỳ for the rest of the day, which left him to his own company at lunch. It wasn't new for him to sit alone but after everything with Dante and now even Kezia, he never thought he would ever have to go back.

"Are you Kezia's boyfriend?" A girl with blonde hair came up to Kỳ and asked.

"Uhm...no?" He slowly faced her. "Why would you think that?"

"It's been spreading around and I wanted to know for sure." She took a seat next Kỳ.

"And who are you to want to know?"

"Oh." She held out her hand. "I'm Mariah, Dante's like only friend cause he's so annoying."

"I'm Kỳ," he took her hand. "Also Dante's like only friend cause he is annoying."

Mariah seemed slightly shocked but then her face went back to normal. "So you're Kỳ...makes sense I guess."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well Dante was talking about you at- hold on. If you're here, where's Dante?" She turned her body to scan the entire cafeteria.

"I don't know since he's ignoring me right now." Kỳ stabbed his pizza with a fork and shoved a piece into his mouth. "Fucking prick," he mumbled.
