"Where are you going?" Amrita mumbled as she lazily opened her eyes. She was awake the moment he moved out of her arms. She just stayed silent trying to soak herself in his silent love.
"I have got some work to do, sweetheart. Just rest. I'll be back before you wake up." He pressed another kiss on her cheek.
Amrita's eyes frowned in annoyance as she wanted her man to herself but if her man had something important, then it's really important.
"Change your clothes. Green doesn't suit you Agastya. I love white. But you look irresistible in black though!" She said, in simple words, she ordered, as she lazily snuggled into the pillow hoping that it would smell like him but it didn't. Anyhow, her exhausted brain didn't let her think much and shut itself off so that it can rest.
He chuckled as he listened to her. But the intercom buzzed again.
"What is it John? Adi reached home. Did he not?" He asked, trying to be calm as his mind conjured 100 negative images for him.
"He is safe and on his way sir. This has nothing to do with your safety. Its a business emergency. It needs you." He answered professionally but the way he assured his boss to relax has nothing to do with professionalism. It all came from a place called admiration, loyalty and respect.
When Agastya understood he had nothing really serious to worry, he took a quick shower, changed his clothes, of course into a white sweatshirt and an olive green cargo joggers before he jogged downstairs, looking all fresh and calm. He was consciously trying not to hyper think and micromanage everything when everything is in its place. If he could keep his mind on high alert, he could also train it to relax at his will.
His eyebrows furrowed when he saw Police in his extended living room. He was surprised to find all his attorneys as well.
What could be the emergency that had everyone on their toes already, he wondered to himself.
As soon as he stepped down, every head turned to him. Agastya looked at John and asked him for details with practiced elegance. But before John could speak, the officer started, "Sorry to disturb you so early in the morning Mr. Gautam. But the proofs compelled us to issue an arrest warrant against Mr. Advitya Gautam." DIG Varma was polite to a fault. Ofcourse he couldn't be impolite standing in Agastya Anand Gautam's territory.
"What are the charges?" Agastya asked calmly.
But once the officer was done, Agastya was anything but calm. Yet, with borrowed patience and composure, he turned to his attorney whom he didn't even have to ask anything as he took his cue and responded promptly,
"We have already talked to the workers sir. As soon as we mentioned your name, they mellowed down at bit but since you were..."
The Law graduate fumbled, unable to find the right words. He wouldn't claim himself as the best in the field but he had too much of experience in the field and yet, when Agastya stared at him like that, he faltered.
"..unavailable for quite sometime, they aren't willing to take back the case. My assistant is on his way with the bail papers."
He finished and he was glad when Agastya turned his attention to the officer, who nodded, "We'll wait for the bail papers and leave, sir." He informed, politely, again.
Agastya moved away from the crowd and John followed him out. Once he is away, Agastya did nothing to hide his anger, "I think this is where you should start speaking John."
"Your brother unleashed his carelessness like anything in the past 9 months, Sir!!" John hissed in annoyance and anger. He is done with Advitya Gautam for real!
