Chapter 3 Casteel
“You guys are fucking dumbasses 'cause I’m not even going to be at the house once I drop the guys who came with me off,” Lor shouts to his family.
His brothers and cousins looked shocked at what he just said and Mal piped up and asked, “Why not?”
Lor smiles at him and says, “The Assassin is back.”
All of them except Lor curse lowly in that language Zoe was speaking earlier. Now that I think of it the nicknames Shadow, Arrow, and Assassin sound familiar but I have no clue why.
“Who’s The Assassin?” a softball girl asked. I look at her and realize it’s the girl Zoe was speaking to when the guys and I came in.
“Someone you don’t want to cross paths with,” Mal says lowly.
That gets me thinking and asking, “If you shouldn’t cross paths with The Assassin why are Zoe and you going to go see him.”
“For one Street Fighting is something we grew up around,” Lor says facing me, “And two The Assassin is a woman.”
“Plus why would we want to get tangled in someone rumored to be part of the Greek Mafia?” A familiar accented voice asks.
We all turn to see that Zoe has returned and she’s walking towards Lor. She whispers something in his ear and he nods. He then turns to all of us a says, “I can go to the birthday party but only if we merge it with the softball’s party.”
“We would we want to do that?” Aiden Bouras, my left fielder and sophomore on the team.
Zoe turns to him, looks him up and down, and tells him, “Because our parties are the best on campus, just ask anyone. Also, Lor and I were already planning on having matching costumes. Which reminds me you need to help me dye my hair back to natural and braid my hair.”
The last part was directed at Lor, but I wonder if it was. All of that was in one sentence and could be directed at anyone that she is related to or to Aiden for all I know. I know I’m probably going to regret it later but I ask it anyway, “Plus you two are twins and have always shared your birthday, so why wouldn’t you want to go to a party your twin is going to be at instead of the party she isn’t going to be at?”
“Exactly, and 5 points go to Cap!” Zoe exclaims and her accent makes it harder to hear what she just said.
“Can you stop with the book references?” Kirean asks her.
She looks over at him and I think she’s going to flip him off but instead does the most childish thing in the world. She sticks her tongue out at him and he sticks his out right out back. Then she straightens, flips him off, and says, “Technically it’s a book reference and a movie reference that I altered a little bit.”
She pinches her fingers to show how much she altered what I think was a Harry Potter reference. Something just dawned on me and I’m asking her, “Wait did you call me Cap?”
She looks over to me and rolls her eyes before saying, “Would you rather me call you ‘Dude that said he’s not getting into sibling disputes’ or shorten it by saying ‘DTSHNGISD’? I think Cap or Captian is better, better yet it would be better if I called you by your last name.”
“Casteel Amora, Captain of the University of Central Florida’s baseball team, and their RF,” I tell her.
“So Amora, you're the RF?” she asks me suspiciously.
I take a few seconds to answer not knowing where this is going, but when I do I tell her, “Yeah, and I’m in Biomedical Engineering so I have a lot to do.”
I don’t think I was supposed to hear her mutter, “Great just, fucking great. I not only have to share a field with him but I have to know who he is when going to classes.”
“Y’all need to get the fuck out of here now 'cause band has this place,” A familiar yet comforting country/greek accented voice yelled.
“Drake what do you mean ‘band has this place’,” Kirean asks his twin sister.
I see her come into view and I never noticed how different she looks from the rest of her family. While they had a deep golden tan she had more of a mixed skin tone, her eyes are a deep gold color, and her hair is a jet black color that is in cornrows(the only reason I know that is cause Lor is really into hair braiding and talks about it a lot). Drake looks pissed off at what her brother just said and snaps back, “Band has this place reserved starting today and going the next 2 weeks because we are doing clinic-type stuff things with high schools all around the state. There was a mass email sent out saying no one could be in using this unless it was an early morning today and the time people can use this place was up about 10 minutes ago.”
Kirean looks like he’s about to explode at her but when he opens his mouth Drake’s boyfriend and Aries’ older brother Andreas Ateos steps in and says, “She’s right dude, not her fault you don’t check your email, and don’t listen when she talks to you about her life.”
Kirean goes from a pissed-off expression to a softer nicer expression when he realizes both of them are right.
“Happy birthday Drakey!” JJ yells while launching himself at his sister.
Drake turns towards JJ and catches him just in time before he knocks her over. He latches himself on her like he’s a koala and she barely stumbles as if she’s used to it.
Most of the people from both teams stare at her in shock at what just happened and a girl from the softball team asks, “How in the world are you able to have him latch onto you without you falling over?”
“Used to it,” was all Drake said.
Andreas gives her a look and she also says, “Core strength.”
“Drake you need to give them more answers than 1 or 2 worded answers, they could be confused as to what you mean,” Andreas tells Drake.
Drake turns her body towards Andreas and tells him, “First off. The first answer was 3 words. Secondly. They never would have to ask the questions if they were already the fuck out of here.”
Andreas looks taken aback by what she just told him. He looks like he’s about to answer but decides against it then JJ picks up her hand and screams, “What is this!?”
Drake pushes JJ’s face from her ear and he drops her hand. Not before I noticed that something was shining on her left hand.
“Are you 2 engaged?” Zoe asks with a lethal calm.
Drake looks at her cousin and says, “No, I’m engaged to Kirean.”
Kirean looks at her disgusted and tells her, “Dude I’m not into that kind of stuff and even if I were I wouldn’t do it with my twin sister.”
“Ever heard of something called sarcasm you…”She never finishes her sentence because Zoe launches herself at Andreas.
Drake pushes JJ off of her and goes to get Zoe off of Andreas. When she does Zoe and her start circling each other and are talking in French and my French is a little rusty but I’m able to pick up some of the conversation like Zoe saying, “You do realise what will happen when they find out,” and Drake saying, “So fucking what I never gave two shits why should I now. The only reason I’m the leader of the Mafia is because I’m my mother’s oldest child. If it was up to them it would have gone to Kirean or you.”
