When the royal family arrived back in Kings Landing, word awaited them about Rhaenyra's second husband, Lord Jasper Wylde. Lord Jasper served as the Master of Laws on Viserys council after Lord Lyonel's death. They married on Dragonstone, in the Valyrian tradition, without the leave of the crown. They are set to return to the capital in a week, everyone was worried about how Viserys would react.

Viserys decided to be petty, his brother and his children had come back to the castle with them, so he asked him to fill Lord Jasper's seat on the council indefinitely. Daemon was happy to have a more active role on the council, he accepted the task because he wanted to keep his mind busy. Viserys was more than happy to dismiss Rhaenyra's new husband in favor of his brother, he knew that Lord Jasper would have no reason to stay in court, and he would insist Rhaenyra go with him. He should have made Rhaenyra go to Driftmark with Vaemond, but he wanted her to be content.

Viserys felt like he had given Rhaenyra too much leeway and now his children had paid the price, but he learned from his past mistakes. He would not fail them again, and this time he saw her actions for what they were; a desperate attempt to cling to power. While Lord Wylde wasn't necessarily one of the more powerful men on his council, he was still on the council, and he held a position that allowed him to be closer to the royal family. Lord Jasper was one of the younger Lords on the council, who had lost his fourth wife about two years past.

The rumors that circled the court about Rhaenyra and her family quickly spread through the whole kingdom, reaching the ears of Vaemond. Vaemond quickly made his way to the castle, he was furious, and he wanted to set all the records straight. Upon arrival at the capital, Vaemond requested an audience with the King. He wanted to petition the crown for an annulment of his second marriage, he had a letter signed by his brother, his liege Lord, that agreed to his request as long as the King grants it.

The whole of Viserys' court was standing in the Throne room with Daella on her usual step, and the rest of the royal family, minus the small children, standing off to the side. "You requested this audience, Ser Vaemond. You may now speak." Daella said, motioning him to speak his piece, so that the King might pass his judgment.

"I have just been informed that my wife," he spat out the word like it had personally offended him, and maybe it had, "has taken a second husband in the faith of our old Gods. I have come to seek an annulment of our marriage."

Murmurs broke out in the crowd, everyone was shocked that Rhaenyra had actually insulted House Velaryon. They had heard the rumors about Rhaenyra, but none had actually believed she would be so bold. To take a second husband who wasn't as powerful as her first, who she was still married to, was unheard of.

"Lord Corlys, is willing to grant this request as long as you are." He presents to the Commander of the KingsGuard, Ser Harrold, the letter his brother sent him with.
