A Machine's Purgatory

SAILING INTERNSHIPS: CLIMAX: FIGHT OF THE DIVINE

Gabriel is introduced so here's a disclaimer: I am not Christian, and I am absolutely clueless of many events in it. Everything pertaining to Heaven and christian beliefs should be taken with a grain of salt, I do not mean to offend anyone.

Saying Midoriya was a huge hero fanboy was an understatement. With thirteen notebooks filled with hero analysis and a fourteenth near completion, he was probably one of the biggest fanboys there was when it came to heroes. Heck, he even dug through grainy, old footage to complete a sketch of Eraserhead and other underground heroes. So, finding one that he had never seen before was next to impossible. Yet here he was, paralyzed on the ground thanks to Stain with a hero he had never seen nor heard of saving them. And this hero was strong. Midoriya had no clue what his quirk was, but the mystery hero was able to teleport, fly (though the wings may be support gear), and summon golden weapons on top of the two swords he had in his hands. Midoriya could slowly feel the numbness from Stain's quirk fading, maybe soon he could help the mystery hero

Whoever this opponent was, Gabriel was not struggling at all. He had easily dodged the knife thrown at him and parried the jagged katana that came after with ease. Sheathing his golden sword Splendor, Gabriel also parried the combat knife aimed for his neck with a buckler shield made of holy light, before kicking the sinner to the floor.

"I wonder, how could one so weak manage to bring down four others? I know, you're an ambush fighter, counting on surprise attacks to take down those who are stronger than you. Unfortunately for you, sinner, I hate cowards ."

Bringing Justice to the sinner's neck, Gabriel was stopped by a surprise kick to the head by one of the kids who had fought the sinner before his arrival. Gabriel tsked as he hit the sinner with the hilt of Splendor, looking towards the green-eyed kid who hit him.

"You are saved by divine intervention, then immediately attack your savor. What kind of mortal would pull such a baffling act?"

The kid pulled his fists into a fighting stance and yelled "He may have killed other heroes, but we can't just kill him because of it! A hero doesn't kill their villains, it goes against the very idea of being one!"

Gabriel was humored by that. Before he had a chance to respond, a loud thud sounded off behind Gabriel, and the barrel of the machine's gun was pressed to the back of his helmet.

"Ah, machine, so this is where you ran off to. How fitting; returning to the species you found easiest to slaughter. Care to ruin this world as they had?"

Gabriel ducked as a charged shot of electricity was fired, jumping away from the machine whilst firing bolts of holy light from an equally golden crossbow. The machine slid under them and punched Gabriel in the chest with its red arm, then punching three coins into weaker points in Gabriel's armor while shoving the kid to the others. Gabriel threw holy tomahawks at the machine, only for it to parry them into the walls of the alley way, not at Gabriel.

"Holding back? So now that we meet again for our final fight, you hold back on me?"

Gabriel shielded himself from a barrage of nails using his angelic wings, the machine charging a new weapon with a flat surface aimed towards Gabriel.

"You owe me your all! You ruin my life and then hold back in our final battle?! Why-"

Gabriel was interrupted as the machine slammed into him, the weapon it was holding launching him into the wall. Gabriel stayed still for only a moment before ripping himself out of the wall, thrusting forward with Justice. The machine sidestepped him and punched him in the back of his head, sending him careening into the other wall. Gabriel's vision blurred as he stumbled back, though he could feel remnants of the Light left in his body mending his wounds.

Gabriel rushed the machine, who had its back turned towards the people it was protecting, slashing as the machine desperately dodged, unable to parry Gabriel's onslaught. He swept the machine's legs and almost stabbed through its chest, but the machine was pushed aside by the green-haired kid, causing Gabriel to hesitate. Big mistake . Gabriel was hit with the force of a thousand punches, pain spread from his chest quickly. The pain only lasted a second, but it felt like it lasted forever, it was the second most painful thing Gabriel ever felt. He was pushed back up into the air, gasping for air as more remnants of the Light were consumed to heal him. With ragged breaths, Gabriel taunted the machine from the air.

"Protecting those weaker than you? That's new for you." A golden spear manifests itself in Gabriel's hand, his arm ready to throw it. "Maybe getting rid of them will give you some motivation!"

Gabriel threw a golden spear to the one that was bleeding out on the ground, only for it to be intercepted by the machine as it leaped in front of the human, its arm taking the hit from the spear. Gabriel flew down to the ground and rushed to strike the machine, but the armor-clad human kicked him in the stomach, allowing the twin colored one to freeze him to the ground. The last thing Gabriel saw was the green one that punched him earlier hit him in the head, ears ringing as his vision blackened and Gabriel lost consciousness.

V1 rushed towards Gabriel's armored body and swiftly checked his neck for a pulse. It was thankfully there, but faint. It really wouldn't look good for one of V1's to kill someone the week during their first internship. Hoisting Gabriel on top of its back with its undamaged arm, V1 turned to its students. Midoriya and Todoroki were fine, but Iida had some nasty damage sustained from the Hero Killer, and the pro hero was unconscious but audibly breathing. V1 took the time to speak to its students as the blood in its body rushed to heal the puncture in its arm.

"Now I know there's a lecture I could give you three, but there's no time. I will give you an explanation as soon as I am free, since you all will be lucky to continue participating in your internship. Don't tell anyone about what happened here. Now, I've got to get going."

V1 heard Midoriya yell out a question, but it had already slammed jumped up to the building's roof. Getting Gabriel help will be tricky since he could not be taken to most hospitals, but it could give the archangel basic medical treatment at UA. Getting there would be tricky since Gabriel was heavy . V1 barley weighed sixty pounds if that, but V1 was lifting around two hundred thirty thanks to the special armor he was wearing. Gabriel didn't need immediate treatment, but it would still take an hour to make it to the school. V1 just hopped he wouldn't try to kill it when he woke.

One more chapter for this arc and then I'm probably gonna take a break from writing this series for a bit. I've finally gotten out of that "Improv my way through the story" and into the juicy bits I've been planning for a while, so hopefully chapters will feel more structured from now on.
