Chapter Nine: ...The Darkness That Controls Me...

"Ugh...Am I dead?," Sonic groaned, blinking his eyes to allow them to adjust to the light that hung above him. "Sonic!," Sonic turned his gaze toward the doorway "T-Tails?," The azure hedgehog stammered as he watched Tails type away at his computer before the kit turned toward Sonic "How are you feeling," Knuckles's head popped through the doorway "Like I was slammed by a truck," Sonic jokes "Well I'm still glad you can still joke," Knuckles grinned as he walked up to the hedgehog.

"Where Ames..?," Sonic asked "She's at Vanilia's house, Cream insisted she and her mother would treat her wound," Tails answered "She'll be back though, she and Vanilia are bringing dinner over," Sonic nodded.

"CONTROL-,"

A bright white light flashed throughout the room before dying down, As Shadow stood between Knuckles and the kit "Is he awake yet Tails?-," Shadow turned his head.

"Yep," Tails answered "What's he doing here..," Sonic pointed toward the black hedgehog "Shadow came by earlier to help Knuckles check how low your chaos energy was," Tails explained "They were able to fix it but your mixed chaos energy is still overpowering your positive chaos energy," Sonic turned his gaze toward Shadow, before looking back at Tails "Did he..?," Tails nodded his head.

"He apologized while you were unconscious," Tails smiled, as Sonic turned back toward Shadow "Don't ever throw Tails under again," Sonic said lowly, Shadow crossed his arms "I won't faker," Shadow paused as he looked away "And that's a promise..," The black hedgehog muttered as only Sonic heard. The azure hedgehog smiled "Thanks.," Sonic said.

Sonic lifted himself as pain eradicated through his body "Take it easy Sonic, Your chaos energy was drained drastically, you almost fell to your death while you were unconscious-,".

"I ALMOST DID WHAT," Sonic's eyes now wide open "You weren't supposed to tell him," Tails muttered, Sonic felt his body shake, he couldn't remember what happened after he got angry it was all a blur but he did remember the painful extraction Eggman had done to him.

"Did everything go well after we escaped?," Sonic asked quietly "Everything was pretty smooth after we got away from the Eggfleet," Tails smiled "And your tail is okay?," Sonic asked quietly, slightly narrowing his eyes toward his younger brother "It's healing, I've been able to fly with it big bro," Tails answered as he rolled his eyes "Good because if you couldn't I would've gone to find Eggman and-,".

"You really are a protective brother," Knuckles snickered, as Tails laughed "Don't worry Knuckles, Sonic really is the best big brother," Tails lifted himself off his chair "You must be hungry big bro, I'll make you some chill dogs," Sonic's eyes sparkled "Knuckles can you help me get the chill Amy brought over?," Knuckles nodded before following the kit out of the room.

Sonic's gaze ran around the room before stopping on the uncomfortable black hedgehog "Listen Shadz..," Sonic started as he got the other hedgehog's attention "I-I'm sorry for tackling and stealing the green chaos emerald," Sonic's gaze turned "I don't know how it all happened, Everything is all just a blur..," Sonic muttered.

"I forgive you, faker, I got chewed out by Rouge later on," Shadow turned his body toward Sonic "It was my stupidity to try to blame your brother for something he couldn't control," Shadow crossed his arms "That's rare to hear you call yourself stupid," Sonic laughed "Don't get used to it faker," Shadow smirked "Don't worry Shadow, We all know how soft you are underneath," Sonic did his usual grin.

"There you are big blue!," Both hedgehogs turned toward the doorway, as the albino bat stood there "How are you feeling blue?," Rouge walked over with a smile "Better," Sonic answered "So the ultimate lifeform has a soft spot," Rouge smirked as Shadow's eyes widened "You heard-,"
