Thistles destiny

Chapter 1

"WAKE UP!" shouted Poison Ivy.

Thistle quickly opened his eyes and leaped to his feet, he looked over to see Poison Ivy giggling under her breath.

"Why'd you do that?!" Thistle said with an irritated look on his face.

"cause it's funny" Poison Ivy looked back at Thistle who started to laugh a little bit.

"Okay I guess it was a little funny," Thistle said with a chuckle, "but, why did you wake me up anyways?"

Poison Ivy hit Thistle lightly on the head with her tail, "You frog brain, we have school to attend!"

"Right, I forgot" Thistle exclaimed with a sigh of disappointment.

Thistle didn't like school all that much, but at least he was learning something. He grabbed a few things he might need for any of his classes and blew out the torches as he left his cave. He ran a little to catch up to Poison Ivy, who had left the cave a few seconds before Thistle.

They both flew towards the mountain where their school was located.

Thistle looked over to poison ivy, "I'm gonna go down to the water to see if I can catch anything to eat" he announced. Poison Ivy gave him a nod and kept flying forward, thistle turned the other way in the hope of finding at least a bird or something.

A little later thistle landed at the sandy beach and looked around for something he could eat. He spotted a bird a few feet ahead and as he slowly approached the bird he noticed that the tide was slowly receding backward, and was quickly panicked.

'That's a sign of a tsunami, I have to warn the others!' he thought.

Thistle sprinted into flight flicking sand everywhere.

In a rush he made it back to the school, tripping as he landed. He quickly ran to the headmaster's desk as he might know something because of his prophecy abilities.

"The tides are retreating! I fear there might be a tsunami on its way!" thistle announced, out of breath.

The headmaster known as Cometwatcher raised his eyebrow and looked slightly surprised.

"A tsunami? This soon, I thought this was going to be in future years! We must warn the tribes!" Cometwatcher looked startled and quickly scrambled to his feet to make an emergency announcement to the school. Thistle backed up so he wouldn't get in the way of him.

"Attention all dragons and dragonets, we have an emergency, please evacuate the school and meet up in the front fields to evaluate our plans for this emergency, thank you for listening" After the announcement you could hear many worried dragons rushing out of the classrooms and out of school.

Once everyone had safely made their way out of the school, thistle and Cometwatcher had to devise a plan to get all the dragons safely across the continent quickly.

"I'd say we have about 11 hours before the tsunami hits based on my visions" Cometwatcher explained

"and it takes about 5 days to get across the continent if we fly for 8 hours a day with minimal resting"

"That means we're going to have to get to a higher altitude. In a far, high, cave possibly?" Thistle added to Cometwatcher's statement.

"Yes. we wouldn't be able to get even halfway across the continent in time" Cometwatcher and Thistle looked around at all the panicked dragons, then looked back at each other.

Thistle flicked his tail, "What if we go towards the high mountains near the sand kingdom? There's many caves there and it would be far enough from the tsunami."

Cometwatcher's eyes lit up as if Thistle was a genius,

"That's a brilliant idea! and it should only take about 9 hours to get there, which leaves about 2 hours for breaks and to get prepared."

Cometwatcher flew forward and looked at everyone. Once all the dragons saw him fly up, they quieted down to let him speak.

"Attention everyone. We have figured out there's going to be a massive tsunami that could put all our lives at risk" A few dragons in the crowd let out a shocked sound and others started murmuring.

"We're going to head towards the high mountains near the sand kingdom, which should only take about 9 hours. And yes, we will be able to rest every once in a while"

After Cometwatcher finished explaining, Thistle went to find poison ivy in the crowd. He walked around the crowd for a bit then finally found her in the large group of scared dragons.

"There you are!" Thistle said as he rushed over to poison ivy. He nudged a tall, pale yellow dragon out of the way so he could get over to her.

"Thistle! I can't believe we have to travel that far to be safe from this tsunami, I hope the other tribes near the water will figure out a way to be safe." Poison Ivy stated nervously.

"Me too," said Thistle.
