Dave.
Los Angeles, California:
"Have a good night Sloane!" Dr. Beale shouted.
"You too!" She shouted back, once he left out of the office. She made sure everything was in order. She wiped off any smudges on the door, wiped down everything that could have germs. Made sure not a crumb was on the floor, and though they had janitors for things like this Sloane just paid closer attention to detail than the average person. Dr. Beale's office was one of the cleanest places in Los Angeles.
She'd finished up the last of her paperwork before doing her nightly walk to make sure no one was in the office. She'd made her way back to her office and began to pack up her things to head home for the night. All day her mind had been on Christopher, though he was throwing a tantrum she loved how persistent he was. She knew he would pop up any day now, she'd changed her number and hadn't received any new texts from him.
A few days had passed since their intense conversation, and Sloane was still navigating the lingering tension with Christopher. It was a cool evening when she stepped out of Dr. Beale's office, the sun dipping low in the sky and casting long shadows across the parking lot. She took in her surroundings taking a deep breath.
"Sloane!" Christopher called out, when she'd opened her eyes he was standing there with his hands stuffed in his pockets, leaning back against his SUV.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, arching an eyebrow. Her heart fluttered unexpectedly at the sight of him, that familiar rush of mixed emotions bubbling to the surface.
"I'm here to take you to dinner," he declared, pushing off the SUV with a swagger that made her stomach twist. There was something captivating about his presence, a magnetic energy that drew her in despite her reservations.
"I'm not going anywhere with you," Sloane shot back, her tone firm. "Not until you ask me properly."
Christopher stepped closer, his eyes narrowing in playful challenge. "Okay, then. Would you get in the truck and come have dinner with me?" He asked, it was almost like it was hard for him to ask. Like someone had washed his mouth with soap in that moment.
"Sure. I'll go to dinner with you."
"Come on." He'd said he grabbed her hand pulling her toward his SUV, he opened the door allowing her in first before he climbed in after her. "Uh, how was your day?" He asked awkwardly.
"Why so awkward?"
"I told you already, I don't have to do things like this. I haven't even taken a girl to dinner, they sign the contract and is moved in the next day." He replied as if it were nothing, Sloane shook her head.
