Isn't it the start of every supposedly realistic young adult novel? A sudden, often unexpected, occasionally unimportant change – a family member dies, a sudden transplant to live with a family member who they're aren't too familiar with, a kick down the social ladder? It's rarely their own choice – though sometimes the consequences of their previous decisions – and frequently unpleasant.
We all act like it's common place, that these Events that spur Important Life Changes and make the main character a Dynamic Person seem to happen at the ripe age of sixteen.
But that's completely unrealistic. Hell, a bunch of fantasies and sci-fis and historical fiction have more realistic Inciting Incidents!
Newsflash: most of us are just incredibly bored.
And that's where my adventure begins.
