DO NOT DRUNK CALL
Hi Taylor. As much as it pains me to admit this, you were right the other day, about us having to get rid of the elephant in the room. I think we should talk. For real, this time. It's high time we find some closure. These childish games are only doing us harm.

Taylor stared at the message on her phone, feeling a mixture of surprise and elation mixed with a healthy dose of irritation.

It was a Sunday night when her phone buzzed with what she might have labelled the most unexpected notification of the year. Or, maybe, of the past 5 years, at least. As far as she knew, the blonde's number had been blocked by Zara ever since around 2022, the last time the two broke up. At some point she stopped trying to contact her—save for a few drunken slip-ups, hence the current contact's name.

She considered responding with something snarky, something sharp and biting, but then she thought better of it. This was a rare opportunity to actually talk, to clear the air and maybe find some sort of closure. With a sigh, she typed out a reply.

Taylor
I'm surprised you unblocked my number.
But I guess I'm happy you did.
And I agree, these "childish games" need to end.
For both our sakes.

It was time for a mature, adult conversation, even if it felt like torture. Maybe, if they could find a way to talk without immediately starting to argue, something positive could actually come out of this. There were a few seconds of pause, in which Taylor alternated between biting her nail and her lower lip, weighing which course of action she should take, before deciding on adding another message.

Taylor
Where are you right now? London?

The reply came quickly.

DO NOT DRUNK CALL
Yes. I'm home. You?

Taylor felt a pang in her chest with that, as irrational as it might've been. Somewhere in London, in the city she had once loved so much.

The city they had considered their home.

She considered suggesting they meet right away, taking advantage of Zara's seemingly willing mood. But then she remembered her busy schedule. The back-to-back shows in Wembley were calling for her, and she couldn't get distracted. She typed out a reply.
