"Becky." A light tapped on my shoulders snapped me out of my thoughts, the embrace I bedded suddenly faded out into thin air revealing Freen still laid on the bed, this time her eyes are wide open watching me intently, her eyes boring unto mine.
"H-huh?" I stuttered. I looked around and tried to comprehend what is happening. Freen was calm, she laid there comfortable, her cheeks never stained with dried tears and Irin isn't crying too. Did I just imagine all of those things?
"You're spacing out. Are you okay?" She asked. This time my intuition proved me right. None of those happened, the hug didn't exist, the panic cries of Freen wasn't real and most especially the words coming out of her mouth is just a figment of my imagination.
"I uh... I'm thinking about something." I replied.
"Are you sure? You look so dull and sad all of a sudden. Is it anything concerning?" She inquired, her palms touched my arm in a comforting manner.
"Yeah I am. Don't worry." I replied.
I darted my eyes to Freen and for a moment our eyes met with a deep lingering tension before she looked on the other way. Her face turning on the other side indicating a need of silence. Of solitude.
"A-are you okay? Do anything hurt?" I finally uttered the words has been long stuck in my mouth. Finally, this time my words wasn't choke in between the depths of my throat.
Freen nodded slightly. Her fingers fidget with each other as she signed. Before we can raised inquiries, the door burst open revealing their mother with nothing but a sigh of relief smeared on her face seeing her daughter fully conscious and moving. She ran forward engulfing Freen's slender figure into her arms scooping her up in an embrace that send thousands of love messages. An embrace that doesn't crush your bones and doesnt make your breathing halt. It's an embrace that screams home. And embrace that declare security.
"Freen! Oh god baby i'm so glad you're okay. Are you fully okay? Does anything hurt? Come on baby tell mommy." She prompted checking for any other possible harm and blisters in her body.
Freen again, shook her head and bit her lower lips suppressing anything hat is threatening to fall out of her eyes. Yet, despite her best effort to held back, the waters forming in her eyes fell down and Freen started breaking down. This time, it's for real, the difference is that no sound is coming out of her mouth. No voice and cracking of plea can be heard, only her tears coating her cheeks. Other than that, nothing. Nothing is coming out.
"It's okay baby, i'm here. Mom's here, no one's gonna hurt you again. No one." She assured. I wanna embrace Freen, to take away her pain, to ease up the burdens in her heart and let her share it with me with nothing but a hug to lighten up whatever that is pulling her down. I wanted to ran to her and wrap her in my arms, to let her feel that she wasn't alone, to let her know that she don't have to fight it alone.
But I can't. Freen and I aren't friends to be holding each other closely.
"Let's go home yea?" Freen didn't say anything and just nodded her head that is buried on her mother's chest. Auntie pushed her a little creating a small gap to see her face, to wipe her tears and look deep down her soul. "I'm here, you don't have to cry anymore. I'll always be here for you. Okay?" Freen nodded and leaned in towards he mother's embrace once again receiving the light kiss left on her forehead.
"Becky, you can go ahead and leave now. Were also going home and i'm skipping class to take care of my sister, you don't have to be with us all the time." Irin retorted.
Despite my great declination of what has been propose, I didn't utter a word to object as I am no longer needed in their shelter. I don't have to be responsible of the mistake I didn't do, and most especially I don't have to worry about Freen anymore. "Okay, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I replied before bidding my goodbye to Auntie Nun and Freen.
