MerALPHAS, OMEGAS, AND BETRAYAL

Rock gouged his chest as he moved faster, trying to chase after them, to see what had happened. He came through the blockage, slamming his forehead against metal.

The metal of a closed gate.

"Da, Da, Da," Gem sang out.

He could make out shapes in the dark, a freshness in the air making him think night crept through somewhere. It was raining.

Mer brought his hands up and pushed. Metal rubbed metal, but it didn't open. The woman had betrayed him. Fucking had his girl. He'd kill her.

"Calm, alpha. Listen."

"Cunt. You have just pissed off the wrong man. Open this gate. Give me my girl." He lost his mind in an instant. That was the wrong thing to do if she wanted calm from him.

"You are going to leave Petar and I, aren't you? You know we'd probably die."

"I can protect you, Zinn," the boy, Petar, said. Mer couldn't see a thing, but he knew the boy child was standing as tall as he could, holding Mer's baby girl, trusting the omega witch.

Run while you can, boyo. "You closed a fucking gate on me, little bitch. Why help you now?"

"I risked my life to set you free, save your child, and you're planning to leave us as soon as you can, aren't you?"

"He's just like them others, then, isn't he?" Petar said. "Maybe they should cook you in a pot. Why would you leave us?"

"It wasn't personal. It is now. Open. The. Gate." He snarled the command, rage getting the better of him.

An alpha's compulsion had to be issued with intention, with control. It was a targeted force of will and words, especially useful against sneaking, temptress omegas. But Mer had always had an impatience issue.

"We need you." The omega's voice trembled. He heard her move in the water. Did she feel the command in his words?

"You have to help us. And I don't think you have a clue where you are."

He didn't know where he was. That was true. "I'll figure it out." He shook the metal. Testing it. He took a breath and tried to focus. "Come here. Open this."

She responded with a gasp, feeling something. Water splashed. This was life and death for her, but her will was wavering under his commands. "You help us. We help you. You walked right into a trap set by a bunch of women. Breeders, you called them," the woman said.

"They are omegas." Did he have to explain everything to the bitch?

"Nothing but wombs?"

"You're going to act insulted now? That's why you're doing this?"

"You're not listening."

"Breeder, I'm listening. You're the one not hearing. You hurt a fucking hair on Gem's head and I will end you."

Despite being separated, Gem wasn't afraid at all. "Da, Da. Where ooo. C'mere."

"Hey, that's my hair, I need that," the boy protested, his voice going high.

Gem, her life possibly in-peril, giggled.

"Ow!" the boy cried.

Gem giggled again.

"I'm not sure it's the girl's hair you need to worry about right now. She's not afraid because we aren't a threat. I'm not a threat, but the first sister is. You can expect no mercy, nothing from her. For either of you."
