Lando Norris was freaking the absolute fuck out.

He had been freaking out for the last fourteen hours. It started as soon as he dropped Marnie off home the night before and their whole conversation actually sunk in.

Marnie had feeling for him.

He had feelings for Marnie.

His fans had very different feelings towards Marnie.

He had so much going on in his brain that he hadn't sleep all night. He needed to do something but that was exactly what Marnie told him not to so. All Lando wanted to do was wrap Marnina Santos up in bubble wrap and not let anyone except her friends and family near her. He just wanted her safe, and more importantly, happy because watching her cry the night before broke his heart harder than he would like to admit.

He just... it sounded pathetic to admit and if he said it aloud to anyone they would never let him live it down, but he needed her. Marnie calmed him in a way n one else could, she made him so widely, she supported him unconditionally...

In the words of Derek Morgan (because yes Lando had watched all sixteen seasons after Marnie said she loved it) she was his 'god-given solace' and he wasn't ready for the media (and his clearly fake fans because no real fan of his would hate on a person for simply being friends with him) to ruin whatever it was between them before it could even start.
