3. Awkward

•Bethany's POV•

When I saw that it was Derek on the other side of the balcony doors I was just about ready to dart out of that room grab Sadie speed home and cry in my bed for two hours. This is literally my luck. Now I look like this complete freak that is in love with Derek and super creepy. It's creepy that we were even just talking in one of his spare bedrooms when everyone else was downstairs having fun.

"Oh hey what's up guys?" Derek says as he closes the balcony doors from behind him. "Yeah sometimes I just need a breather." Derek says as he steps inside.

OMG maybe he didn't hear us. Wait no that's impossible he was like 6 feet away from us.

"Just talking yanno" Janel said quickly with fear in her eyes.

For what seemed like 10 minutes we all just kinda stared at each other awkwardly.

Finally Derek broke the silence by saying " you guys wanna see an amazing view come out on the balcony"

"Yeah!!" Janel and I said at the same time

We followed him out and were in awe by the scenic view. Wow it was beautiful. But very awkward at the same time, I just wanted to know if Derek heard us or not ugh it was driving me insane. We were all leaning on the railing looking at the beautiful view when I felt Derek's eyes on me. I looked over at him and asked "what?" laughing slightly.

"Ha nothing" Derek said shaking his head and looking down with a smile on his face.

Ugh I hate when he does this. He's so cute ugh why does he do this.

After looking over the railing for a couple of minutes we all proceeded to go back downstairs and enjoy the party again.

•Derek's POV•

After cleaning up a little bit with the help of Mark, I went to take a shower and just think a bit. Tonight was really fun and I do have to say I think the party was very successful, except for the part that ruined my whole night of course. I was just out on the balcony catching some air when I hear Bethany and Janel talk about some guy that's falling in love with Beth. I really couldn't hear much of their conversation and most of what I heard just sounded like mumbling. But one part of what I did hear is Janel telling Beth "that was some hug". So that means that whichever guy hugged Bethany tonight has feelings for her and she has them back. Who could it be. There were like 80 people here tonight and I wasn't even with Bethany most of the time. This is so frustrating how am I supposed to figure this out. I know I really shouldn't care so much but I at least deserve to know who's trying to get it with Beth.

I decided to ask Mark and see if he saw any flirting or suspicious behavior between Beth and anyone else. I told him about the conversation I overheard between Beth and Janel. And the first thing he says to me is " jealous much??"

"No I just wanna look out for her there's nothing wrong with that" I said

"Sorry Dude I just feel like you wish whoever this Dude is that Beth likes, is you. But just be considerate of Bethany's happiness, this is good for her." Mark replied

" Ya I know, I know I just don't wanna see another guy with her." I replied

"What another guy that's not you?" Mark said snarky

"No of course not. Look whoever this new guy is I'm happy for him. Looks like he found a great girl. Ya know what, I bet it was Val, I didn't like how touchy he was with her tonight."I said suddenly getting very jealous.

Even though I don't show it I'm really mad. I felt like Beth and I had a pretty good showmance and a lot of people shipped us. Did she just forget about all of that?

"Now wait don't jump to conclusions ,I have a good idea" Mark said

"What???" I replied

"Let's call Sadie, she's Beth's best friend she has to know something." Mark said

"That's the best idea you've had all day."

Mark pulled out his phone and dialed Sadie's number. After two rings she answered and said "hey what's up?"

~~~~~~~Sadie's POV~~~~~~~~

I was sitting in the passengers seat in Beth's car driving home from the party with her when I got a call from Mark. I answered and Mark said he was with derek, I was suspicious already. I quickly grabbed Beth's arm and mouthed to her that I was on the phone with Derek and Mark. She gave me wide eyes and basically screamed as quiet as she could at me to put it on speaker.

"Okay okay slow down what are you saying" I said to derek and mark over the phone.

" Who likes Bethany." derek says

Bethany looks at me like she's about to jump out the window. They're idiots for not thinking that Beth and I are together right now. I have no clue where they are even getting this from and why they would even be so concerned. It's Beth's life anyways.

"No one why would you think that." I said

"No reason just curious. are you sure you don't no anything about any potential crush or anything." Derek said

"Nope not at all" I said

"Okay well we gotta go thanks Sadie" Mark said

"Yup" I said then hung up

"Omg what even is that about? ? I wasn't even flirting with any guy tonight or vise versa"Bethany said

"No clue" I say in return

Suddenly we hear Beth's phone ring too

"OMG check who it is" Bethany says skeptical that it's gonna be Mark

"It's mark what do we do should we answer" I said getting nervous

"They can't know we are together, just put it on speaker and let me talk" bethany said

I did so quickly and answered the phone.

"Hey Beth" Mark said

"Hi Mark whats up??" Beth said

"Oh nothing really just had a quick questions, is there anyone with you right now, maybe like a boyfriend or something?"

"Nope just me here hbu, are you with anyone right now?" I said with obvious knowledge of Derek being right next to Mark.

"Nope just me , well I gotta run Beth nice talking to you, thanks for coming tonight." Mark said

"Bye Mark" Bethany said then hung up.

"Ummmm what was that."I said quickly. "Since when do they care about your personal life"

"I don't know Sadie, I don't know." Bethany said

Then we heard Beth's phone ring again. I quickly grabbed it and looked at who it was. Derek.

"Bethany Bethany Derek is calling you I repeat Derek is calling you" I said getting paniced.

"Do we answer?" Bethany asked me

"Yes of course we do" I quickly put the phone on speaker as we heard Derek say through the phone "hello?"
