Lan Wangji

How unfair is life at times....

Meng Yao had assured me that everything would be fine, even if I lost my job. He'd said, with his usual smile, that he'd make sure I ate, even if it meant he'd have to starve. I know he means well, but I hate it. It feels wrong, unfair to lean on him again after all these years. I remember those times when he had to feed me....back when I was barely holding it together and now years after, I don't want to depend on him again.

I sighed again, standing in front of the hotel room door, knowing this meeting wasn't going to be a normal one. The setting was odd....who arranges a meeting in a hotel for a conversation about work? Deep down, I knew. I'd known the moment I was asked to come here.

The door creaked as I pushed it open, revealing Li Cheng, the alpha who had summoned me. He stood there, an unctuous smile on his face, and I could already feel the tension in the air. This wasn't about keeping me employed. I wasn't naïve enough to believe that. But I was still here, holding on to a sliver of hope, knowing it was likely in vain because I really had no other choice.

Li Cheng motioned for me to sit, but I stayed near the door, choosing to stand. "Lan Wangji," he began, "you're a valuable asset to the academy, it would be a shame to see you leave. It would be... unfortunate for both of us." His words were smooth, too smooth. He stepped closer, his eyes lingering on me in a way that made my skin crawl. I stood tall, not letting him see the discomfort I felt. But inside, I was already bracing myself for what was coming next.

"You know, I was pressured from the higher ups to cancel the self defense program but don't worry, I have already talked them out of it." he continued, "They have asked me to submit the certificates of all the trainers and for those who didn't own one, they wanted me to find another trainer. But as Im the one who is reporting back to them....I can just tell them all trainer are qualified and has got a certificate." his voice lowered and suggestive, "if you cooperate with me, I can do that for you pretty one....you'll never have to leave. I can make sure you stay, Omega. But it depends on you... how much you're willing to give."
The way he said it made my stomach turn. He wasn't just talking about work anymore, and the way his hand hovered too close for comfort told me everything I needed to know. He stepped closer again, his eyes roaming over me in a way that was more invasive than his words.

Disgust. That's all I felt. Disgust and anger. I had no respect for this alpha....none at all. Though they say not all alphas, trust me...to this day all I have seen are assho*es. And now, standing in this dimly lit hotel room, I was certain he had never intended to help me in the first place. Not that I expected anything either.

"I'm not interested," I said, my voice cold.

Li Cheng chuckled, stepping even closer, ignoring my words. His hand brushed my arm, and I could feel the anger rising, pulsing through my veins. "Don't be so hasty, Wangji," he murmured, "spend a little time with me... you'll see it's worth it. You won't ever have to leave the academy. You won't have to worry about a thing. You aren't claimed yet I see, you know....I admire such independent beauties, I'll take care of you...."

I had heard enough. This shameless person is the father of two omega kids who are my students and this man also has a kind and sweet partner who is nothing but a loving omega. He has a pretty good family but still chooses to do such things. An Alpha they say with pride.....such shameless creatures

Without warning, I turned, my fist colliding with his face. The punch landed on his nose, and he stumbled back, stunned. His hand flew to his face, blood starting to drip from his nose.

I glared at him, "Don't ever dare to show me your face again."

For a moment, he didn't move, just staring at me in shock. I could feel my heart racing, the anger still coursing through me, but I refused to let him see any more of my emotions.
