The streets of the neighborhood were lively as usual, with kids playing games and neighbors chatting outside their homes. You and Mert had spent most of the day exploring the local park, and now the two of you were walking back home, hand in hand. The sun was beginning to set, casting a beautiful golden light across the city.As you strolled along the quiet street, Mert suddenly stopped, tugging you gently to get your attention.
“Wait, Y/N,” he said, a small smile playing on his lips.
You turned to him, raising an eyebrow. “What is it?”
“I’ve been thinking…” Mert started, looking a bit bashful, “We should take a detour.”
“A detour?” you asked, amused. “Where do you want to go?”
Without saying another word, Mert pointed toward a nearby hill that overlooked the neighborhood. It was a small spot the two of you had visited before—a perfect place to watch the sunset.
“You’ll see,” he said with a mischievous grin as he began leading you in that direction.
When you reached the top of the hill, the view was breathtaking. The sky was painted with shades of orange and pink, and the sun was slowly dipping below the horizon. You sat down on the grass, and Mert joined you, the two of you sitting close as the warm evening breeze blew gently around you.
“I wanted to bring you here,” Mert said softly, breaking the peaceful silence, “because… well, sunsets like this are special, and so are you.”
You turned to him, touched by his words. “Mert…”
He blushed a little, clearly unused to being so open about his feelings, but he held your gaze. “I know I’m not the best at saying these things, but I just wanted you to know. You mean a lot to me.”
Your heart swelled at his sincerity, and without thinking, you leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips. Mert froze for a moment, caught off guard, but quickly relaxed, his hand finding yours as he kissed you back. The world seemed to slow down around you as you shared the tender moment, the warmth of the setting sun bathing you both in its glow.
When you finally pulled away, Mert’s face was flushed, and he let out a small laugh. “Wow, that was… unexpected.”
You smiled, leaning your head on his shoulder. “I guess I wanted you to know how much you mean to me, too.”
Mert grinned, clearly flustered but happy. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer as the two of you watched the last of the sun disappear beneath the horizon.
“Can we stay like this for a while?” you asked quietly.
“Of course,” Mert replied, kissing the top of your head. “As long as you want.”
And so you did. The two of you stayed there, sitting together in the fading light, sharing soft kisses and quiet conversation as the stars began to dot the sky above. It was one of those perfect moments—simple, peaceful, and full of love.
