Jessica Introduces Jaune to Earth (And Earth Things)

"Okay, so you like tacos?" Jessica asked. They had set their food down while they began conversing yet again.

"Yeah, I'd say so," Jaune said, smiling. His attention shifted to the drinks Jessica had ordered for them. "What are these drinks?" Jaune picks up a styrofoam cup. He holds it up to his face and carefully shakes it to hear the ice in the drink.

"This," Jessica carefully removes the lid to show Jaune the cup's contents, "is called 'Horchata' and it's the best!"

Inside the cup, he saw a cloudy milk-like liquid. He briefly wondered who would ever have milk with hot foods, especially meat. But then he remembered Ruby and how much pride she took in drinking it with every meal while they were at Beacon. His next thought was why there would be ice cubes in milk, but he lost his train of thought when the smell hit him. Whatever this drink was, it smelled sweet.

"You'll love it," She assured him.

Seeing Jessica's excitement, he placed the lid back on and eagerly took a sip through his straw. As soon as the drink hits his tongue, he stops. Speechless, he just looks back at Jessica, who just smiles at his reaction.

"I know, right?" Jessica grinned even wider

Jaune didn't say anything for a moment. He took another sip to confirm his sense of taste still worked. It did.

"This is so good."

Jessica lets out a small giggle before both she and Jaune take sips from their drinks.

"My parents used to tell me that when I was little, I'd always ask if there was horchata at every family gathering we went to. They didn't always serve it, but now you can get it at most Mexican restaurants.

"What's in this?" Jaune asked. He couldn't quite discern the taste exactly, but there was something familiar in the smell. Again, he still wasn't quite sure, but he enjoyed it non the less.

Jessica, having never given much thought to what was in one of her favorite drinks, furrowed her brows in contemplation.

"I'm not really sure." She looked at the cup in her hand. She wracked her brain trying to remember if she ever learned how Horchata was made and what specifically was in the drink. After a moment, she answered, "I know they put some cinnamon, but I think I heard one time that it's made with ground-up rice. I'll have to find out later."

"Do you think you can send me the recipe when you do?" Jaune asked. "I think my team will really like this too."

"Of course," Jessica agreed. "It's not every day I get to introduce Mexican food to an entire planet that doesn't know what Mexican food is. Oh! Maybe that's what I could do in your world. I could start selling Mexican food and ruin all other foods for Remnant," she smirked.

Jaune chuckled. "Yeah, maybe. I don't think anyone would object to it."

"Oh my god," she gasped. "I could release songs from Earth. I could write whole books and movies!" Then Jessica got an idea.

"Jaune. Jaune. Jaune!" Jessica grabbed his hand and pulled him closer.

"Jess," Jaune replied out of instinct. He was suddenly very nervous and afraid.

"I could write books about my world. I could sell the stories of the Justice League and we could make bank!"

I like the idea of Jessica and Jaune just making comics based on the actual comic events. I think it'd be funny if they read how to beat an immortal (Salem), and the answer is just "chuck 'em into space". Or like, "This is what they use magic for?! Our magic sucks by comparison!" I don't know.
