Lucy Chen sat in front of her vanity mirror, her LAPD uniform neatly laid out on the bed behind her, as the early morning light filtered into the spacious bedroom of her luxurious mansion. She moved to slip off her wedding ring, a stunning, massive diamond that sparkled under the soft lighting, the kind of ring that would draw attention anywhere. But just as she reached to remove it, the sound of her children downstairs laughing and playing distracted her.

"Mom! Max spilled juice on Harper!" Ellie, her eldest, called out, her voice ringing through the house.

Lucy chuckled and rolled her eyes. "One minute!" she called back. Rushing to get dressed, she hastily put on her uniform, tucking her hair into a neat bun, completely forgetting about the wedding ring still sitting on her finger.

Lucy's husband, David Nune, was the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, a position that came with enormous responsibility and influence. Their lives, though filled with love and excitement, were also marked by an unusual need for secrecy. Unlike most rookie cops, Lucy was incredibly wealthy. The sprawling mansion they called home had five bedrooms, a pool, a gym, and even a holiday house on the coast. With four cars in their garage—a Range Rover, a Mercedes, a Porsche, and an SUV—Lucy and David's lifestyle was a stark contrast to her modest persona at the LAPD.

Her best friend, Bailey Nune, also David's sister, was the only one who knew people from the precinct and also who knew Lucy's secret. The two women had become incredibly close, and Bailey admired how Lucy managed to juggle her demanding career as an officer with her duties as a wife and mother, all while hiding her immense wealth from her colleagues.

That morning, Lucy's day was already off to a shaky start. As she made her way downstairs to say goodbye to her husband and kids, David handed her a set of keys.

"I had your usual car taken to the demo shop for its service," he said, giving her an apologetic smile. "You'll have to take the Mercedes today. You'll be fine, right?"
