Chapter 5: Captivity

I struggled against my chains, but they held firm.

Lizbeth's gaze met mine, fear and confusion etched on her face.

A cold, unforgiving metal collar encircled her neck, attached to a chain anchored deep within the stone wall.

My heart sank.

"Rin, what's happening?" Lizbeth whispered.

I strained against my bonds. "I'll get us out, I promise."

But the chains were enchanted, resisting my strength.

Lizbeth's eyes widened as she discovered the magic sigil on her left breast.

A crimson symbol pulsed with dark energy, its meaning unclear.

"Rin, this mark...what does it mean?" Lizbeth asked.

I recognized the symbol – a slave mark

"A slave mark," Rin said as she snarled pissed

Lizbeth's face paled.

The masked figure reappeared, accompanied by Sir Theodore.

"Welcome, Knight Rin," Sir Theodore sneered. "You'll make perfect leverage."

Lizbeth's chain rattled as she moved closer to me.

"Rin, don't worry. I'll—"

Sir Theodore's laughter cut her off. "The Beastkin Princess will make a fine slave "

My rage boiled over, but the chains held me captive.

The masked figure stepped forward, revealing a shocking truth:

"I am Elian, a member of the Loyal Guard...and your long lost Father."

My mind reeled.

Elian's betrayal cut deep.

"Lizbeth, don't give up," I urged.

Her determination flared.

"We'll escape," she vowed.

Together, we would shatter our bonds and bring our captors to justice.

But for now, we remained trapped.

Elian's revelation left me reeling. My own brother, involved in this treachery?

"How could you, Elian?" I demanded.

Elian's expression remained cold. "I do what's necessary to protect our kingdom."

Sir Theodore smiled. "And what better way than using the Beastkin Princess as leverage?"

Lizbeth's eyes flashed with defiance. "You'll never succeed."

Sir Theodore chuckled. "We already have. The king will soon learn of his daughter's...extended stay."

My anger boiled over, but the chains held firm.

Elian turned to leave. "Guard her well. We can't have our prize escaping."

As they departed, Lizbeth whispered, "Rin, I'm scared."

I strained against my chains, desperate to comfort her.

"Don't worry, Lizbeth. I'll get us out."

The sigil on her breast pulsed stronger, its magic suppressing her Beastkin abilities.
