AALIYAH'S POV:
Today is the big day. My brother's wedding day. To say I'm tired would be an understatement due to the rush of the wedding. Yesterday was the Mehndi (henna) function where we dance and just enjoy the beauty of Pakistani weddings. Today they will seal the deal with the nikkah (something like vows).
I dress in a royal blue, red and gold saree with gold 6 inch stilettos. Just before I had gotten my hair and makeup done at the salon, I looked amazing with a formal updo and makeup giving off a bold yet elegant look.
"Aali get downstairs were getting late!" My brother bellowed
Checking the time u respond "Asif shut up there's still an hour left! You just want to see your bride !"
"Sue me of I do!" He screams in mock anger
"Asif! Your getting married for God's sake stop being childish!" My mother chides him
"But mo-" he starts but is cut off with my mother shushing him.
I walk down the stairs twenty minutes later ready to go, everyone is gathered in the living room and kitchen just talking, passing their time eating or on their phones.
Once I reach the landing I notice two people standing not too far away from each other, staring wide eyed, with their jaws threatening to hit the ground.
Aun wears a red shirt with a black tux and Akbar is wearing a blue shirt with a black tux.
This cannot be happening. Oh my God. Keep walking, ignore him, ignore them both.
I focused on my thoughts and taking one step at a time to pass both of them. Once I was passed I let out a breath and focused on the task at hand - making this the best wedding I've ever went to, for my brother, sister in law and myself. I have waited so long for this day and it's finally here.
AKBAR'S POV:
I watched her step down the stairs looking gorgeous as ever, I was so glad Ahmad had told me the colour of her dress - after a lot of begging that is.
I've tried to contact her through various different ways but she doesn't reply and I honestly don't know why she's ignoring me, not one bit.
I was unable to focus on anything else so I just stared wide eyed and dazed, I knew she was beautiful but not that beautiful. She was an angel.
I was brought back to reality with the snap of fingers in my face. Ahmad.
"Yo my sister is gorgeous but don't look at her like that that's just nasty!" He said making a weird face. I guess he didn't know we got into a fight.
"Too bad you cant have her anymore." Aun grunted just Low enough so I could hear. I scowled at him and turned away not wanting to ruin the good vibes.
The wedding was a blast, with the amazing food, elegant decorations and dancing and just in general the feeling of being at a wedding. There was one thing missing though - Aaliyah. She had gone out of her way to ignore me and I still don't know why. I need to find out and fast.
Despite my tiredness, I lay awake thinking that night about how my life had changed and how a stupid bet had landed me in such a twisted senior year.
Suddenly everything became crystal clear and it all made sense. The bet. The bet had started all this mess and even though i called it off the next week, I knew it would come to bite me in the ass someday. i just didn't know it would be this soon.
I rushed out of bed and grabbed the keys to my new integra, I slipped into my shoes and tip toed down the stairs. I had to clear this out as soon as possible.University would be starting tomorrow and so would school for Aaliyah.
All I thought about was the mistake I had made and the selfish reason I had tried to get her to fall in love with me and how she was probably more than hurt at the moment.
Once I arrived at her house I froze just as I was about to ring the doorbell. What idiot rings someone's doorbell at 2am to explain how sorry they are? oh yeah, me.
With that thought I turned around and headed to my car, I would talk to her in the morning.
I sat in my car staring at her house, then at my phone. after a long thought I dialed her number and waited. No answer. i called again, and no answer. After the third try I gave up and decided to go home.
My frustration had gotten the best of me so I decided to let off some steam and go for a longer way home, as I sped around a corner, I didn't see the drunk driver swerving in and out of lanes, coming straight at me from the opposite direction until he hit me.
AALIYAH'S POV:
RING RING.
"Oh My God! Cant this guy leave me alone?" I let out a frustrated sigh as I decided to answer my phone after the third ring.
"What do you want Ak-"
"Ma'am are you the partner of Akbar Khan?" What?
"Um..who is this..?" I asked.
"Well you're the last person he called and your name is 'My Queen' - so I assumed, I'm very very sorry."
"No its fine and where is he, who are you?"
"Ma'am I am Justin Trevors, the paramedic on call who is at the scene of the accident."
"Accident?"
