AALIYAH'S POV:
My weekend consisted of lying around doing nothing, enjoying the last couple days of sort-of-freedom because I had no homework but school had started officially the passing Friday.. And it was already Monday.
Today I forced Ahmad to drive the Porsche. As we drove to school I decided to lift a weight off my brother's shoulders.
"Ahmad ?"
"Yeah?"
"You know you don't have to worry about your friends coming up to the car and stuff, I'm not uncomfortable or anything, you don't have to worry about me too much." I stated slowly
"I know I trust you, but I don't trust boys, even if they're my best friends. I just don't want you to get hurt baby sister." He said holding back a smirk, he knew I hated that and even though I was just a year younger than him, he loved calling me his 'baby sister'
I whacked him on his arm and he chucked pulling into his designated parking spot.
He kissed my forehead before I left and his friends just waited for me to leave before they approached my brother, it warmed my heart to know that someone was there looking out for me.
When I reached the lockers everyone was standing in a huddle. What?
"What's going on guys? We practicing for football or what?" I inquired laughing.
"New guy in school, he's a senior and all the girls are after him already" Imran said
"Oh whatever, Fati lets go well be late for Chem!" I dragged Fatima to that oh so dreadful class full of grade 12s.
We walked in and took our seats before the teacher, a short, slim and baldish Chinese man introduced himself.
"Class, I'm Mr. Yang as most of you know and this is the final year for most of you too! Excited ??"
"Woos" and "hell yeahs" followed, but everyone went silent when there was a knock on the door.
"Ah, latecomers " Mr. Yang sighed as he walked to the door. He wasn't so bad, pretty nice if you ask me.
"Oh no, never mind, Newcomer everybody." He motioned for the person to come in.
I looked up to see a familiar face come into view, except he seemed a little nervous right now.
"This is Akbar Khan kids, he's a senior who transferred here from Toronto and we need to make him feel welcome." With that Mr. Yang walked to the front of the class and starting writing stuff on the board.
The new boy- Akbar took a seat in the spare desk in front of us next to a bunch of other guys, some of them I recognized as my brothers friends but I wasn't exactly sure.
"Damn he's Muslim, means we have a chance! He's gorgeous !" Fatima gushed and I rolled my eyes at her.
I tried to focus on my work but couldn't help myself and ended up listening to the boys' conversation. What was it about this boy? I never gave a guy a second glance because you know what they say .. The first glance is out of instinct and the second glance is from Shaytan (devil/satan).
"Hey man, I'm Aun and this over here is Usman." The black haired boy pointed over to one of the few boys I talked to he was brown haired and green eyed.
"Akbar." He nodded at both of them. His voice ... NO snap out of it Aaliyah.
I shook the thoughts away and set to work and light conversation with my bestie until the bell rang for 2nd period.
After English Sidrah and I headed towards our regular table and I told her about the encounter with the guy at the mosque and now him being in the same class as me. She did exactly what I was hoping she wouldn't .. She squealed and started teasing me. This was not helping the weird feeling I got every time I think about him.. Which ended up being the whole morning.
As Sidrah stopped at the washroom I walked to meet the others at the table but was stopped when I ran into a hard wall and my books fell across the floor.
I quickly bent to pick them up and so did the wall. I dared not look up to see who i thought it was , but I did.
"Hey, beauty" he smirked with a slight blush. What a weird combination eh?
"Sorry." I mumbled and ran off to my lunch spot. Why oh why was I so clumsy? It's like my world had shook since I first saw this guy, a mere stranger had shook my world without permission. How dare he?!?
I had never been clumsy, although I was shy and didn't really talk to boys unless i had to or my friends like Imran, Aun and Usman. Usman was Arabic and a really sweet guy with his dashing looks and even though he was a player, he respected the Hijabis which included my crew, also, he was Ahmad's friend so he knew not to make a stupid move on me.. So Ahmad didn't mind him talking to me casually because he trusted him, and me of course.
I got in my favourite car at the time and closed my eyes until my brother decided to finally show.
We drove home and I occupied myself with homework and a cup of chai (milk tea) to get rid of the tiredness but ended up falling asleep in the middle of homework...Oops.
