The sweet aroma from the shop filled all my senses as I was practically dragged inside by it.

I wove through the bustling crowd, my eyes glued to the beautifully crafted sweets calling my name. I've always had a sweet tooth—it's been part of me since childhood. I honestly don't understand how anyone can live without these little pockets of happiness... unlike my brother, clearly.

I moved from aisle to aisle, unable to decide what to try first. Every treat looked more tempting than the last. After a serious internal debate (and some pleading with myself), I finally settled on the French classic: macarons.

Niko, ever the sweetheart, insisted on paying—after all, he brought me on a date, and spoiling me is clearly his duty. I left the shop munching happily on my chosen delicacies, savoring every bite.

"Do they taste better than me?" Niko suddenly asked, making me choke on the last macaron.

"What the—?!" I half-exclaimed, half-gasped, trying to catch my breath.

"No, I mean—you never look this happy when you give me head," he said, his expression a mix of dejection and cuteness that somehow made my heart melt.

I couldn't even stay mad. "WTF! How can you even compare yourself to my sweet little macarons? They don't deserve—uh, allegations... or something," I stammered, half offended, half laughing.

He pouted, eyes wide and mournful. "So... you like them better than your own boyfriend?"

He looked so adorable that I reached over, squeezed his cheek, and planted a playful kiss on it.

"Better now?" I asked, grinning cheekily. His smile widened until I could see all his teeth. Gosh, I love this man. How did I ever survive without him before?

"Stop smiling so much, your jaw is going to hurt, puffin," I teased, giving him a wink before darting to the next aisle in search of more treats.

As I browsed, Niko came up behind me, whispering in my ear, "You know, sweetheart, give me a warning before you call me that nickname—it nearly gave me a heart attack."

I giggled, his playful words making me feel light and warm inside. And so we continued our banter, him happily spending money on my little indulgences.

"Next time, I'll get you macarons from Délicieuse, since you love them so much," Niko said as we settled back in the car.

"Nah, I like the local ones better. They're just... better," I replied, adjusting myself in the seat.

"Oh? And why's that?" he asked, curious.

"Isn't it obvious? They taste better, duh!" I said, rolling my eyes playfully.

He chuckled, and I couldn't figure out why. What's so funny about my macaron preference?

Before I could ask, my phone rang. I barely had time to glance at the screen before the call was cut. Too many weird people in the world.

Then a text flashed across the screen:

Hello, darling... I am back ~

A chill ran down my spine.

"The frowns don't look good on your face, sweetheart. What's going on?" Niko asked, pulling me out of my little trance.

"Oh, uh... nothing. Wrong number, I think," I said, blocking the number and reporting it.

When we arrived at his mansion—not the hotel, thankfully—his guards collected our bags while Niko carried me inside bridal-style.

Gosh. I think I've said I love him a hundred times today, and yet it still feels like it's not enough.

I suppose I'm going to be stuck saying it in a loop every day from now on—and honestly? I wouldn't mind at all.

Unknown POV:

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, darling... Count your days with Niko Volkov. 'Cause you're going to be back mine again, soon enough."
