𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒Jocelyn flopped onto her bed, grabbing her phone from the nightstand. It was late, but she couldn't wait to FaceTime Arvid. She had been glued to the screen all morning, watching his race. Arvid had just won the feature race in Barcelona, becoming the youngest winner to win the Spanish GP. It was unbelievable, and she needed to see his face, needed to hear him tell her every detail.
She tapped on his name, waiting for him to pick up. She wasn't sure if he was too busy celebrating, but she hoped he'd have time to talk. After a few rings, the familiar connection tone sounded, and his face appeared on the screen. He was in a hotel room, still wearing his Red Bull cap, and his grin stretched from ear to ear.
"Jocelyn! Can you believe it?!" Arvid exclaimed, practically bouncing on his bed. The excitement in his voice was noticeable, like he was still riding the high of the race.
Jocelyn laughed, feeling the same rush of adrenaline even though she hadn't been the one on the track. "Oh my god, Arvid, I watched the whole thing! You were insane out there! I was freaking out!"
Arvid chuckled, running a hand through his messy hair. "I honestly can't believe it. I thought for sure something would go wrong, but everything just clicked, you know? The car, the strategy... It was perfect."
"Perfect doesn't even cover it," she said, eyes wide. "You just won a freaking feature race! You're literally the youngest F3 winner ever! Does that even register yet?"
He leaned back, shaking his head in disbelief. "It hasn't sunk in at all. I'm just...wow. The whole time, I kept thinking, 'Don't mess this up. Don't let this slip away.' But when I crossed the line—"
"The way you celebrated! You looked like you were about to jump out of the car!" Jocelyn teased, though she totally understood the feeling. If she ever won Worlds again, especially at that age, she'd probably do the same.
"I almost did!" Arvid admitted, laughing. "I just...I can't explain it. It was like everything I've worked for, every moment I doubted myself, just vanished in that second. I've dreamed about this since I was a kid, and now it's real. And doing it with Prema under the Red Bull Junior Team makes it even crazier."
Jocelyn smiled, warmth blooming in her chest. She had always admired Arvid's determination, the way he chased after his goals with everything he had. And now, seeing him so excited and proud, it felt like she was part of his win too.
"I'm seriously so proud of you," she said, her voice softening. "You worked so hard for this, and now look at you. You're making history."
Arvid's grin softened into something a little more bashful. "Thanks, Joce. That means a lot. Really."
"So, what was going through your head during the race?" Jocelyn asked, leaning back against her pillows. "I need all the details. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time."
He laughed, shaking his head. "Okay, so the start was actually clean, which I was relieved about. I managed to get a good launch and keep my position. But then...man, I had to fight for that lead."
"He was pushing you so hard!" Jocelyn cut in. "I was holding my breath during that whole section."
"Right?!" Arvid's eyes lit up. "I knew I had to be aggressive, but also smart. I couldn't take any stupid risks, especially with him being my teammate. But once I got ahead, it was all about managing the tires and not getting too comfortable."
Jocelyn nodded along. She loved seeing this side of him, so passionate in his world. She didn't know much about motorsports before meeting Arvid, but after hearing him talk about it so much, she'd gotten hooked.
