Jamie felt his frustration boil over as he watched the shopkeeper fumble with supplies. "Hurry up!" he snapped, his heart racing. "She needs help now!"
The shopkeeper shot him an irritated look. "I'm doing my best! This isn't a—"
Without thinking, Jamie pushed the shopkeeper aside and began rummaging through drawers, searching for anything that could help Angelia. The cluttered shop was filled with various herbs and potions, but time was slipping away.
"Where is it?!" he muttered, shoving aside jars and vials in a panic. Finally, his hands brushed against something cold and metallic. He yanked open a drawer and found an injection of bright blue medicine.
"This will have to do," he said to himself, determination overtaking his fear. He didn't wait for permission as he grabbed the syringe and hurried back to Angelia, who was still unconscious on the counter. Without hesitation, he jabbed the needle into her chest.
As the medicine entered her system, she suddenly spasmed and spat out a mouthful of blood. Panic surged through Jamie. "No, no, no!" He could hear the shopkeeper warning him that it might be too late, but he didn't care. He had to hope it would work.
Moments felt like hours as he watched her, holding his breath. Then, just as he feared the worst, Angelia's eyes fluttered open. "Jamie?" she whispered, her voice weak but alive.
"Thank God," he breathed, relief flooding through him. "We need to get to the ship and get off this planet. Now!"
She nodded slowly, still trying to gather her strength. With Jamie's help, they pushed through the door and back into the chaos outside, determination driving them toward the ship before it was too late.
