VAN CHASING
The father grabbed his daughter's hand, and they sprinted away from the van.
The driver accelerated, closing in on them.
Tires screeched as the van swerved onto the sidewalk.
The father yanked his daughter into a nearby alley.
They ran, their footsteps echoing off the walls.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows.
"Follow me!" the stranger shouted.
They dashed after the mysterious ally, weaving through alleys.
The van pursued, its engine roaring.
Their savior led them to a nondescript door.
"Inside, now!" he urged.
They burst through the door, slamming it shut behind.
The van screeched to a halt outside.
The stranger locked the door, panting.
"You're safe," he assured.
The father's daughter clung to him, trembling.
"Who are you?" the father asked.
The stranger's eyes locked onto the daughter.
"I've been watching. I know what's happening."
The father's instincts screamed caution.
But something in the stranger's voice resonated.
"Tell me," the father urged.
The stranger hesitated.
"The driver... he's not human."
The father's eyes widened.
"What do you mean?"
The stranger leaned in.
"He's a collector. And your daughter... she's the prize."
To be continued...
