"Hey,Allison. Are you a awake?" A voice spoke from above me.
"Oh, Mathias." I mumbled in my sleep, planting a kiss on my pillow.
I felt a warm hand place itself on my shoulder. My visitor rattled me back and forth in an attempt to wake me up.
What they didn't realize is I'm an incredibly heavy sleeper. I could have been hit with and elephant tranquilizer and you would never realize anything was wrong.
My visitor did everything possible to retrieve me from my dreams, but to no avail. Eventually, they leaned in close and whispered something in my ear.
"Hey look,Denmark is running around the deck shirtless!"
I immediately shot out of my bed and instinctively grabbed a camera from my nightstand. I searched excitedly around the room for someone to thank. As soon as I saw who it was, I flopped back onto the bed and let out a long sigh.
"Ugh. Mathias. What are you doing here at 3:00 in the morning? I was happily sleeping."
"I see..." He smirked.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked the mischievous Dane.
"Do you know, you talk when you sleep?" He asked, ever so innocently.
My eyes widened in horror. With the dream still fresh in my mind, I knew exactly what he meant.
"Oh, Mathias!" He mocked in a feminine voice.
"Psh. In your dreams."
"More like, in YOUR dreams." He retorted.
I chuckled at my own stupidity.
"Okay, you got me there. So, why are you here?"
"I just got done partying. I wanted to show you something."
He opened the door and grabbed my hand. He ran over to the deserted bow, dragging an exhausted me behind him.
Denmark placed himself on the very tip on the bow and leaned over, almost ready to fall over board. He waved his arms excitedly, effectively scaring the crap out of me.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" I shouted at the careless Dane. I put my arms around his waist and pulled him a few steps back.
"What's going on?!" He exclaimed in surprise.
"You almost fell off!!!"
He broke out laughing for no reason.
"Hahaha. Don't be so up tight. I had it under control."
I raised my eye brow, and lowered my guard.
"Sure, just like you had that drinking contest with Prussia under control."
"I won didn't I?" Mathias added.
"No, you got so incredibly drunk you made out with the beer can, then slow danced with it, before passing out on top of the bar."
His goofy grin dawned on his face once again, as I recounted the evening.
"What are you jealous of Henrietta?" He taunted.
"You named the beer, Henrietta?!"
"I'll take that as a yes." He countered.
Denmark then reclaimed his place at the bow.
"Hey, give me a boost!" He requested me.
I was surprised by the random question.
"Um...Sure..."
I walked over to Mathias and awkwardly held him a inch of the ground.
That's when he started proclaiming his monarchical status to the waves.
"I'm the king of Northern Europe!!! And Legos, and beer, and-"
"Can you please hurry." I begged. "You're kind of heavy." (Denmark: Aww, I can't be that bad!!! -Don't make me put you on a no-beer diet.
Denmark: You monster! -haha. Fine I'm not that cruel.)I strained under the weight of the jubilant Danish man.
Then a voice came from behind me.
"Here, let me take over..."
I turned to see Norway glaring at us in his pajamas. He looked like he'd rather strangle the Dane than help him.
"Go ahead." I managed.
Norway lifted Mathias up a bit higher. Denmark didn't seem to care about the switch.
Just when I thought the DenNor fan girls would ambush us, Norway lifted the Dane higher. With one movement he pushed the Dane over board.
Life lesson: Never ever wake Norway up when he's dreaming about butter.
"Holy crap, Norway!!! That was my chance at a date! I am not going back to online-dating!!!"
The unfazed Norwegian man regarded me with suspicion.
"What about England?" He pointed out.
"I'm sure he's got a nice fairy he knows. Or maybe he'll meet a gorgeous stinking-swamp troll. I hear Tinkerbell is on the market!" I offered, while I scrambled around the deck for something to save Mathias.
Norway retained his emotionless demeanor. I decided to persuade him a bit.
"Just don't tell England about Mathias, okay? Besides, I'm keeping him out of your hair, aren't I? Sounds like a win-win to me."
Norway thought for a moment. He did enjoy all the quiet time he had been getting with out Denmark there to annoy him. Finally, he came to a conclusion.
"Alright..."
A weight was lifted off my shoulders with that one word.
"Hey guys. It's fun to chat and, all but I'm kind of starting to lose my grip."
Denmark's voice called from the from under us.Denmark was hanging off the side of the bow. He was gripping the edge for some support.
I rushed over to Mathias, and with Norway's help, heaved him up and onto the deck. I was seriously thinking about putting him on a diet at this point.
"Are you alright?" I said.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Denmark assured me.
Norway trudged back to his room with a disappointed expression on his face. Well, at least he showed some emotion.
Mathias and I ended up joking around and talking for an hour or two. Then he brought up an important question.
"So, what did you mean by, I was your only chance at a date?" He asked, with a sly smile.
"Crap. You heard that?"
"I was hanging of the edge of the ship. I had nothing better to do."
"Um...well...I...do you...Um... Doyouwanttogooutwithme?!?!?" I flinched, waiting for my rejection.
"Sure. That sounds cool!" He shouted.
I was taken aback by his answer. I was sure he would reject me. There was plenty of other girls on this ship.
"Really?!" I was so excited.
"Yeah! Why not? Henrietta has nothing on you."
I tackled him in a hug right then and there. It was awesome!!! I couldn't believe I had a boyfriend!!!
Things were starting to look a little better for me. Until England came back into the picture...
