Regret had crept up to you and filled your entire being the moment you saw the so called "The Great Almighty Dragonlord, K'uhul Ajaw". And it's not because of the weird pixel saurian, of course not, but it's because if he's here than that would only mean one thing...
"How dare you make us wait for you slowpokes to arrive!! You should have just left [Name] instead of wasting everybody's time by looking for them!!" Ajaw said, stomping and waving his pixelated uhm, arms? Around the air. Clearly pissed off.
You on the other hand, felt annoyed by his comment, but you were already used to his insults. And any how, you enjoyed going back and forth with Ajaw with taunts.
"Man, not even a minute into the conversation yet your voice is already grating to my ears, hi to you too Ajaw." You serenely said, smiling and enjoying his aggravation towards your lack of reaction, as always.
"Take it down a notch, alright? You don't even know some of these people."
You tensed hearing an all to well familiar voice. Scoffing and murmuring something, you turned your back as Kinich finally showed himself. Paimon and Lumine(You finally got their names) reeled back at your slight change and hostility towards the guy.
"Just because Kachina's too nice to get mad doesn't give you an excuse to be rude to her." Ajaw leaned in closer to his ear, teasing him.
"And what are you gonna do about it? You think you're the boss of— Hey! What do you think you're doing!?" Kinich paid no mind to him mindless babbling and simply flicked him to time out.
"Alright, I've put him in a timeout for now, sorry about that."
After that whole dramatic scene, they all started talking and getting along while you just stayed silent, not wanting to see Kinich or hell even hear his voice. Sure it may seem petty, rude, and melodramatic, but did you care? Oh fuck no, you had your reasons and you will stand by it.
Though, after a few minutes, you somewhat felt like someone was watching your back. It creeped you out but decided to just ignore it the feeling.
"I'm just lacking sleep, that's all." You repeatedly thought to yourself over and over until it somewhat gave you a sense of comfort—easing away the unsettling feeling you had just now.
Lumine found Kinich staring at you with a longing look? If she had to guess. But you didn't seem too interested in talking to any of them, or to be more precise, with Kinich. But why? Is what she questioned to herself. Did something happened between the two of you that she and Paimon didn't know about?
Well, she'll worry about that later. After all, she has no business to pry into your guy's argument.
After a while of everyone talking, it was now decided it was time to go ahead and register.
Letting out a breath of relief, you went ahead and went to the register first before anyone else in the group. Anything to get away from him. The traveler noticed your haste and signaled the others that it was time to move as well and catch up to you.

As it turns out, Lumine apparently was interesting in joining the competition to join Kachina's team as her asshole sorry excuse members had ditched her. It always irked you whenever people left Kachina in the dust just like that. At some point, you wanted to join purely to support Kachina, however you couldn't find yourself to voice it out. And it filled you with guilt every single time you thought about it.
A fact you already knew, but the girl at the front told them that only people native to Natlan were allowed to participate for reasons you don't bother remembering. Leading to Mualani and the lady to go on a back and forth debate, one trying to convince the other to make an exception and the other telling all the reasons she can't do that.
In the end, Mualani conceded after hearing the valid reasons the lady had stated in their seemingly never ending battle.
"Well, it's fine, you can still watch the tournament, traveler!" Kachina said assuring Lumine that it was fine even if she couldn't join. While Lumine looked a bit disappointed but also understanding the customs in Natlan.
While everyone explained more of the rules and story of Natlan and its reason for the pilgrimage to the traveler, you once again stayed silent. Not knowing what to say as they already said the things you wanted to say. But that's fine, you didn't want to talk much anyway.
After everyone said what they wanted to say, including Ajaw unfortunately, the lady said that before the tournament started, we all could eat first and foremost as a kind gesture for the participants and their choosing of any of their friends or families to eat alongside with them.
"Oh, uhm, you guys go ahead first, I have somewhere else to be for now." Seeing the sad look on Kachina's face broke your heart, so you tried your best to reassure her as much as you could, "But don't worry, I'll be back soon. I just need to take care of some things, alright?" They all nodded, though Kachina hesitated for a bit.
You smiled and walked away, leaving the rest of the group to talk among themselves.
Once you were out of sight, Ajaw saw Kinich staring at you longer than anyone else did and decided it was high time to tease and rile Kinich once again.
"Eugh, Seems like loverboy over already misses that worthless piece of trash! You two are perfect for each other given that you're both just a speck of dust beneath me!" Kinich paid no mind to Ajaw's nonsensical yaps and watched your every movement before you were out of sight.
Snapping whatever trance he was in, he caught up to the group and chatted with the rest, albeit his responses aloof and blunt as always. Still, he couldn't get you off his mind even as he conversed with the rest for the entire evening. An inconvenience he tells himself but he can't bring himself to stop the images of you in his mind.
This peeved him to no end whenever you were around, did he still miss you even after all this time? You both weren't on good terms anymore. What mending is there that can fix the two of you? Even if there was a sense of longing, you'd never forgive him after what had happened all those years ago.
But for now, he'll force himself to stop and focus.
