A chill was what went though everyone's spine except for Cale who had heard that in person and saw it coming.
What did the voice meant by that statement?
"Human! What is that voice talking about?"
Raon truly was quite naive when it comes to things like this but it was probably for the best given his age. Hopefully Hong and On hadn't caught on to what the voice meant. But knowing On she probably figured it out.
What about the adults in the room?
Their eyes shook slightly as the realized the hidden meaning of the words from the creepy voice.
They remember how Cale had mentioned once in the recordings of how butterflies were basically spirits of the dead. And during one of the breaks, they learned that it is said to be human souls leaving to go into the afterlife.
It didn't take a genius to figure out what it meant.
'Young master/Cale/Cale-nim/Unlucky bastard/Dongsaeng.......................
His friends sacrificed themselves for him.'
Realizing the meaning truly was chilling but that isn't the reason why they were shaking no. They were shaking out of worry of Cale's mental state. It was clear from the first recording that he held them close but know, to have been sacrificing them, the same people he cared a lot about; how would he be fine?
They have no doubt that Cale on the screen also knew the meaning instantly.
How would he react?
They felt guilty they thought of this question instead of Cale's wellbeing but they couldn't help but feel a little curious on how he would react.
Cale on the other hand, somehow not being oblivious for once, read the room but kept quite. It would probably be best to just stay quite for now.
The screen lit up.
Chapter 3 Part 3: A Sacrifice
Kim Rok Soo closed his eyes shut as he tried to ignore what the voice just said. It's not true right? Whatever the voice said is fake right? He hasn't been sacrificing his friends this whole time right? He right, right? 'Please someone, just tell me I'm right!'
Deep down he knew, he knew that the butterflies were probably of his friends trying to help him. But he didn't think he was basically just killing them again. He wanted to stay in the dream that the voice is wrong and his friends were alright. But he knew, he was wrong.
'I truly am a stupid worthless and selfish trash aren't I? Heh, I even sacrificed all my friends with no second thoughts. Trash like me should not be alive.'
He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream and shout, but he didn't, he couldn't. He was numb, he felt numb. Exactly how he felt seeing his parents dead body being buried, he couldn't shed even a single tear.
"Why do I exist?"
Ouch, well that hurt.
Obviously not to Cale who at this moment this not really care much about going on but for the others who were in the room with him. It felt as if seeing Cale stab himself with the world tree root again but worse. There were already tears and sniffles that could be heard through out the room.
Cale, being his usual self was confuse why everybody was acting like this. He thought that maybe the insect thing frightened or disgust them so much they couldn't hold their reaction. Yea, that's it. It totally not because they are worried about him, right?
