back story

( Aouthers note that this takes place before Simon  is in the military:) ))

Ashley was a vary smart girl she was 25 and worked as a vet at a small clinic in the town she lived in.

She often was lonely in her small house but found comfort when her best friend that she's known since high school stopped by every so often to see her.

Simon Riley was not a bright man he was also causing trouble and always got in fights or ended up in jail. She loved him other corse even though she would never tell it to his face, but she cared for the stubborn man she was always gard on him and he enjoyed it.

Ashley's pov

It was late on this fine  Tuesday night. I finally got off work. The clinic was my favorite place,  but I also had a long night. As I unlocked the frount door I walked in and shut it locking the door back as I threw my bag and purses on the couch I was vary tired but I also haven't ate all day so I was quite hungry it was 12:30 when I checked the clock and I sighed as I went to go make me some food.
A few minutes passed and I heard a knock on the front door I look at the time  12:40 " who would be up at this hour" I said ti my self as I walked to the door and looked threw the peep hole and saw a familiar face I knew all to well I sighed and opened the door " hey ash can I come in" Simon my best friend asked me and I nodded and let him in he thanked me and sat on the couch he smelled like  Alcohol. I obviously knew he was out drinking again like always he was a drunk and a drug adit he was fûcked up, but I still cared for him I sighed and looked at him " did you eat?" I asked him. Simon always skips meals. Sometimes he doesn't eat for three days or even a week, that's why he's so skinny and he did have some muscle but not enough to make him buff. he shook his head and I sighed once again " I already knew that answer" I said as I walked ti the kitchen and got him a plate of food I made from the other night along with my good I made a few minutes ago and I handed him his food "eat you look skinny" I said as I gave him the plate " thanks" he said to me as he ate the food I nodded and joined him in eating.

A few minutes went by, and we both finished. He thanked me again, " tch if you weren't always drunk I would feed you all the time" I said and he laughed " I'm not drunk I just didn't wash this shirt " he said and I scrunched up my nose and looked at him " ew gross dude" I said and he chuckles and looks at me " Oh hay can I talk to you about something" he asked me in a more sturdy manner " yeah what's up dummy" I asked as he looks at the floor I start to worry " I joined the military I will be leaving tomorrow to go to Basic training and I will be gone for a while" he said to me I was so shocked I couldn't speak we say in Silence for a hot minute till he looks at me " you can't leave what about me Simon your the only person I have left what if you get hurt or die your just going tk leave me here alown!" I said all at one I hated being separated with someone I cared for and I felt so close to him I couldn't deal woth this I was crying of cose but all he did was hug me and stroke my hair "I will be pack I promise even if it's the last thing I do I will come back" he said and I looked at him " promise?" I asked
"Promise," he said I nodded and got uo from tue couch ans went tk the kitchen I got a bag full of my most famous chocolate chip cookies that I know he loved so much " then here take these i know they won't last long but it's something to remember me by" I said as he takes the bag and kissed my  cheek "I will be back ash" and with that he left and now I wait
