I'm lying in Luke 's bed, still catching my breath after an intense hook-up. We're just friends with benefits, and I'm grateful for the comfort and familiarity we share. As I close my eyes, trying to drift back to sleep, I'm suddenly jarred awake by a terrifying nightmare.

In my dream, I'm surrounded by darkness, and I can hear distant, anguished screams. A chill runs down my spine as I realize that I'm standing on the edge of a vast, bottomless pit. I feel a malevolent presence lurking in the shadows, watching me, waiting for its moment to strike.

Suddenly, I'm grabbed from behind by a pair of strong, cold hands. I try to scream, but no sound comes out. I struggle against my unseen attacker, but it's no use – I'm lifted off the ground and pulled closer to the edge of the abyss.

I can feel my captor's hot, fetid breath against my ear as it whispers, "You can't escape your fate, Taylor. I've been waiting for you."

I wake up with a start, my heart pounding in my chest. I look around, disoriented, and realize that I'm still in Luke's cabin. He must have noticed my distress, as he's now sitting beside me on the bed, his arm around my shoulders.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asks, concern etched on his face. "You were thrashing around and moaning in your sleep."

I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "I just had a nightmare," I admit, shivering despite the warmth of the cabin.

Luke's expression softens, and he pulls me closer. "Do you want to talk about it?"

I consider brushing it off as just a bad dream, but something tells me that I can trust Luke with the truth. "I don't know who or what it was," I confess, "but I felt like it was after me. It wanted to drag me into this pit, and I couldn't get away."

Luke's grip on me tightens, and he's silent for a moment. "Sounds like a pretty classic monster nightmare," he says finally. "Probably just your brain processing the dangers we face here at camp."

I nod, feeling a little better now that I've shared my fear. "Maybe you're right. I just hope it doesn't come back."

"I'll protect you, Taylor," Luke assures me. "No matter what."

I smile, grateful for his support. "Thanks, Luke."
