Sevyn couldn't get it out of her mind—how Von's lips felt against hers after all these years. But just as quickly as it happened, they both pretended it didn't. It was easier that way. Von barely looked her way, and when he did, there was a wall between them—a thick tension neither of them wanted to confront. Sevyn kept to herself, playing the role of the quiet guest in Von's house, trying to focus on Syx's upcoming birthday instead of the kiss that still lingered on her lips.

The Spider-Man-themed party for Syx was in full swing, and the backyard was lit. Kids ran around in capes and masks, balloons tied to every chair, while a giant inflatable slide took up half the yard. Syx was having the time of his life, laughing with his friends and showing off his costume, but Sevyn couldn't focus on that.

She stayed off to the side, sipping on her drink and watching from a distance. Von was on the grill, making sure everyone was fed, but he hadn't said more than a few words to her since that night. Every now and then, he would glance her way, but that wall was still there.

Chanel, though? She was everywhere. Talking to guests, laughing loud, making sure everyone noticed her and that shiny-ass ring on her finger. Her friends—those bougie chicks she always had around—hovered close by, giggling and whispering like they had some inside joke. Sevyn felt their eyes on her more than once, but she tried to brush it off.

But it was hard to ignore the tension. Every time she passed by Chanel or her crew, the vibe shifted. It was subtle, the way they cut their eyes at her, or the way their laughter died down when she got too close. Sevyn couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to their fake smiles than just shade.

Meanwhile, Syx was in his element, climbing all over the slide with the other kids, his little voice echoing through the yard.

"Mama, look! I'm Spider-Man!" Syx shouted, waving at her from the top of the slide.

Sevyn waved back, forcing a smile. "i see you, baby!"

But even Syx's excitement couldn't distract her from the weird vibes circling her like sharks. Something about Chanel's whole demeanor didn't sit right, and as the party went on, Sevyn's gut told her this was just the beginning of something she wasn't ready for.

"mommy, you gon' see me swing like Spider-Man!" Syx giggled, jumping on the couch.

"boy , calm down! You gon' break something," Sevyn laughed, catching him in mid-air.

Meanwhile, Von moved like a ghost. He handled his business with Syx and made sure everything for the party was running smooth, but anytime Sevyn tried to make eye contact or get close, he turned the other way. She knew he was avoiding her, probably trying to forget what went down between them, but Sevyn couldn't. And the fact that Chanel was back wasn't making things any easier.
