A New Start

That grumpy alarm blared insistently, pulling me from the depths of a restless sleep. "Fuck!"

I muttered, slamming my hand down on the snooze button, wishing for just a few more precious minutes. As the noise subsided, I took a moment to take in my surroundings.

The room was dimly lit, the early morning light barely filtering through the curtains. I was in a small, cozy space filled with the faint scent of lavender from the air freshener my mother insisted on packing. My bags were haphazardly strewn across the floor, a chaotic reminder of my abrupt arrival at the academy."This is real,

"I thought, a wave of anxiety washing over me. The enormity of being in a dragon academy, surrounded by creatures of legend, pressed down on me. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the whirlwind of emotions churning within.

With a reluctant groan, I swung my legs over the side of the bed, feeling the coolness of the wooden floor against my feet. "Time to face the day," I whispered to myself, standing up and stretching, my body still a bit stiff from the journey. I had a lot to learn, and the day ahead promised to be anything but ordinary.

I headed to the bathroom, my heart racing as I took in the stunning decor. The tiles sparkled like gems, and the mirrors reflected soft, golden light. I splashed cold water on my face, feeling it refresh my senses. Just as I was starting to feel somewhat composed, the door slammed open.I jumped back, startled, and rushed to open it. There stood Aiden, his playful grin brightening the room as he held out a small box.

"What is it?" I asked, curious despite my annoyance at the sudden interruption.

"A new dress for you," he replied cheerfully, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"A dress? "I echoed, raising an eyebrow. "Why?

"There's a dress code here," he explained, his tone turning slightly serious. "Girls need to wear skirts. Your jeans and top won't be allowed, sorry."

"Great," I muttered, feeling frustration bubble to the surface. "I just started experiencing this day, and I already hate it."

Zack chuckled, clearly amused by my irritation. He handed me the box, and I took it reluctantly. As I opened it, I couldn't help but wonder what else this academy would throw at me.

stepped into the shower, letting the warm water cascade over me, washing away the remnants of sleep and frustration. The scent of coconut filled the air

After rinsing off, I wrapped myself in a fluffy towel, inhaling the sweet, nutty aroma that lingered on my skin. The world outside seemed to fade away as I savored this small moment of tranquility. I couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, this new beginning wouldn't be so bad after all.

I opened the box Aiden brought. Inside lay a knee-length black skirt paired with a wind-detailed top. The fabric felt soft against my skin, and the intricate designs seemed to flutter with the slightest movement, like they were alive.

I quickly changed, slipping into the outfit and letting my hair fall loosely down my back, the strands brushing against my shoulders. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door, feeling a mix of emotions

There he was—Aiden, dressed in his usual black hoodie, leaning casually against the doorframe. His messy hair fell slightly into his eyes as he gave me a lazy grin.

"You ready?" he asked, straightening up.I nodded, brushing a few strands of hair behind my ear, trying to push away the nervousness bubbling in my chest.

"Let's get this day started," I muttered, stepping toward him. Aiden held the door open, motioning for me to follow.

We walked downstairs, and the cafeteria, which was empty yesterday, was now bustling with students my age. They were all eating breakfast and chatting away with their friends. Everyone here looked like a model, their perfect figures making them seem almost unreal. Well, I guess that's true—dragons are more stunning than humans, apparently. Aiden led me to a table where a group of his friends was sitting.

"Hey, yo, everyone," Aiden called out.

A girl with jet-black hair and coal-dark eyes glared at me, clearly not thrilled with my presence. I sighed internally. *uess I need to be strong here and just focus on myself.

Aside from her icy stare, everyone else at the table smiled warmly at me. "Hey, I'm Jasper," said a guy with an unusual tattoo snaking down his arm. He extended a hand, his expression friendly. "Nice to meet you, new girl."

I shook his hand, feeling slightly more at ease. "Luna," I said, giving a small smile.

"Hey girl, I'm Sophie," another girl chimed in, bouncing with energy. "You can call me Soff, and trust me, we're gonna have a blast together!"

I forced a smile. "Yeah, sure," I said, trying to match her enthusiasm but feeling a bit overwhelmed.

this girl is filled with endless energy, I thought, as Soff continued chatting away. It was nice, though—a little warmth in the middle of all the awkwardness.

As we were talking, a loud announcement cut through the cafeteria, making my heart jump:

"Everyone, please gather in thek orientation room."

The buzzing energy of the room faded, students standing up and moving toward the doors. My stomach flipped. Orientation. This was it—the moment I'd be officially introduced to this new world.

I glanced nervously at Aiden, who smiled, sensing my unease. "You're going to be fine, Luna. Just stick with us."

Soff, bouncing with excitement, grabbed my arm. "Oh my gosh, let's go! Orientation is where things really start to get interesting. Trust me, it's gonna be fun!"

I tried to match her enthusiasm, but my thoughts were swirling. "Yeah, fun," I muttered under my breath, forcing a smile.

The orientation room was impressive, way more than I had expected. The ceiling was high, covered in detailed paintings of dragons flying, their scales glowing like they were alive. Huge crystal chandeliers hung down, filling the room with a soft, warm light.

The walls were decorated with large tapestries showing scenes of dragons battling, storms raging.

In the middle of the room were rows of wooden benches, set in a half-circle, all facing a platform at the front. Behind the platform stood a giant dragon statue, its eyes glowing faintly, almost as if it was watching us. The room seemed to buzz with energy, giving me chills.

All the students settled into their respective tables, and I found myself sitting next to Sophie. My unusual blue eyes and the streak of white in my hair made me feel even more out of place; it seemed like everyone was staring at me.

Then, the room fell silent as a young boy walks in. He is tall, with a build that can belong to a Greek god. I can see girls practically swooning over him, their eyes wide with admiration. His presence commanded attention, and the air around him felt charged with authority. On his finger was a sapphire ring that caught the light, shining like a beacon.
