Scarlett's POV:

As I stepped off the plane at Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris's enchanting charm enveloped me, dispelling the fatigue of my delayed arrival. Excitement and relief coursed through my veins; I was finally here for Emily's special day, after being held back in Texas by work commitments.

Scanning the arrivals hall, my eyes searched for Emily's bright smile. Instead, they landed on a tall, dark-haired stranger holding a sign with my name. His piercing blue gaze locked onto mine, and a hint of a smile played on his lips.

"Scarlett?" he asked, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine.

I nodded, returning his smile. "That's me."

He approached me with confident strides, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm Ryan, Emily's brother. Welcome to Paris."

Ryan's firm handshake and warm smile put me at ease. As he took charge of my luggage, I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes sparkled in the sunlight.

"You look lovely, Scarlett," Ryan said, his gaze sweeping over me. "Emily's been worried sick about you."

Our conversation flowed effortlessly as we drove to Emily's family's elegant townhouse. Ryan shared stories about Emily's wedding preparations, and I found myself laughing and feeling at home.

However, amidst the warmth and camaraderie, I sensed a hint of melancholy in Ryan's eyes. A depth that made me wonder what secrets he kept hidden.

As we arrived at the townhouse, Emily flung open the door, enveloping me in a tight hug.

"Scarlett, you're finally here!" Emily exclaimed.

Ryan's eyes met mine, and I smiled, feeling an unexpected connection.

Just then, Emily's mother, Claire, appeared, her eyes shining with warmth. "Scarlett, darling! We're so glad you're here."

As we entered the townhouse, I felt a sense of belonging, but Ryan's enigmatic gaze lingered in my mind.
