Victoria's POV
I wake up exhausted. The previous day had been extremely long, and I still didn't know what to think.
I sit up and swing my legs over the side of the bed.
"She's awake!" A voice says. I climb carefully down the ladder and turn, face to face with my new cabinmates.
"Hi! I'm Stacey. This is Grace and Adysen." Stacey has curly dark hair slicked back into a bun, and a wide smile. Adysen is pretty and about my height, and has her wavy blonde hair also pulled into a bun, matching Stacey's. Grace, however, has long, curly black hair that reaches halfway down her back and she's a few inches taller than Stacey and me.
Stacey extends a hand out for me to shake, and I do.
"We were just talking about you," Adysen says.
"Not really," Stacey says. "We were wondering why you switched cabins."
"Oh, uh--"
"Kim told us that because you were alone and had to survive together, you felt 'uncomfortable' sleeping in your old cabin?" Grace says.
"Oh, that's not . . . "
Stacey shakes her head. "But we don't believe that." She adds, glancing at Grace and smiling a little.
"You don't?" I say.
"Nope. Grace and I have been going to this camp for years, and let's just say we know how things work around here." Stacey explains.
"Wait, really?"
"Mhm. So tell us the real reason." Grace says.
"I . . . I can't--"
"It's okay. We can probably guess." Stacey says.
"We just wanted to make sure." Grace adds.
"Wow . . . I'm not even sure if I know the real reason."
They laugh. "Well, feel free to ask any of us if you need any help, or if you just need support," Grace says, smiling.
"Thanks."

Breakfasttime.
Breakfast is great, my plate is full of eggs, pancakes, bacon, and a fruit cup.
Kim stands at the front of the dining hall, megaphone in hand, but she doesn't use it. The hall goes silent as she clears her throat.
"We have a special activity today. Students from two other camps are arriving later today for a swimming competition at Eagle Cove!"
Murmurs surround the room.
"I want to remind you to be on your best behavior, but I'm sure you will do just fine."
A kid towards the front calls out. "Does everyone have to do it?"
"I would like all of you to participate, but I won't be forcing you."

Back at the cabin, I look through my bag for a more 'fitting' swimsuit. Something that will allow me to be active without feeling self-conscious.
"Are you going to do the swimming competition?" Stacey asks me.
"Yeah, are you guys gonna do it?"
She turns and gives Grace a look, then answers. "We weren't going to go at first, but since you're going, I think we should go too, for support."
Adysen rolls her eyes. "For your information, I was gonna go."
I smile at her. "Great," I say. I pull out a blue and white one-piece and pull it on. I put my shorts and T-shirt over it and leave the cabin with Stacey.
