First Person POV
I wake up early in the morning, the birds singing their usual songs and the sun's rays gently hitting my face. I clean up my futon, fix my hair and clothes. Mr. Hitori greets me as I just finish gathering all my belongings.
"I'm sending you off now. Be careful." He tells me. I can hear the hint of worry lacing in his tone, but I don't think much of it.
"Alright, I'll be off now! I'll see you again soon Mr. Hitori!" I say, looking back with a close-eyed smile and waving my hand as he watches my figure become smaller and smaller.
'Hmm, I bought the trinkets and kimonos. I think the one with clouds would suit Sora best, and I think the one with interlaced hands would fit Shinji-' My eyes widen in horror, as I sense dead bodies up ahead. My eyes fill with tears as I think for the worst, the unstoppable tears flowing from my eyes to the snowy road.
'No....no....no.....NO! Why? WHY?! Who did this to you? Why? How? When?' I think as my worst nightmare comes true. I stare at Rina on top of Shinji, her hand on his head, as if she was protecting him from something. "R-rina! Shinji!" I yell.
I go inside, I clutch my heart at the gruesome sight. "Aah! Ahhhhh! Who?! Why?!" I yell once more, my voice raspy due to the tears that seem to never end. "Yuka......Takeru........Shinji......Rina......Sora.........Kento.....!" I call out each of their names, believing that it would somehow bring them back.
My eyes quickly widen and my heart finds a new glint of hope, as I feel that Sora and Rina are the only ones still warm. I take a long blanket and tie Sora on my back, while I carry Rina bridal style. I hurriedly run outside again, the thick snow crunching underneath my feet. I run, and run as fast as I can towards my village, hoping that if I can get them to a doctor in time, I can save them. 'H-how did this h-happen? A bear who couldn't hibernate? A wolf who lost its pack? No time to waste! Please hang on, your big sister will save you!' I think, sweat rolling down my forehead despite the cold temperature.
My breathing hitches with every step, my heartbeat quickening with every passing second. "Grrr..... Ngh....Aarrggh..!" I hear Rina growling in my arms, as her eyes turn white and veins are clear on her head. My eyes widen, as I witness her, "R-Rina! W-what are you doing? You should rest! You have injuries, I-I'll carry you!" I try to tell Rina to rest, but she doesn't seem to hear me as she starts thrashing around, making it even more difficult to run than it was before.
Her struggling against my grip made me lose my balance, causing me to trip and fall. 'Oh no! I'm falling!' The air hits against my cheeks as I brace for the impact, accidentally letting go of Rina, as the blanket also unravels, resulting in Sora also falling away from me.
I'm quite surprised to say the least, as I feel no pain. 'H-huh? I'm not dead? The snow..... It saved me...... But it was also the reason I fell. What am I thinking? I need to find Sora and Rina!'
I frantically look around in all directions as I get up, slightly dusting my kimono, with the fear for the worst clear in my eyes. I spot Sora not far away, and make a dash for her. I sense something coming from my left, and before I could react, someone tackled me. Out of instinct, I reach for my axe and put it up, preventing whoever tackled me from biting me. My eyes show worry and widen more as I see that it is Rina who tried to tear me to shreds!
"R-Rina! What are you d-doing? Its me! Y/n! Your older sister! Can't you remember?" I say. I know Rina like the back of my hand. Even if she hated me and tried to attack me, she would never act like this! "Rina! I know you're in there somewhere! Don't give up! Please hang on!" I almost scream, as I feel her claws gripping my shoulders, I feel like my bones are going to shatter!
Another unknown person tackles Rina, pushing her off of me. I'm surprised, and I want to thank the stranger for helping me, but also I want to yell at the stranger for taking my sister away from me.
I get up at almost a speed I never knew I had. I look at the direction the stranger tackled Rina towards, to find..... Sora?
They're fighting each other? But they never fight, no matter the circumstance! Wait...... Did they...? Have they been turned into the man-eating demons like Mr. Hitori had said? No, never! Sora and Rina have always been human from the start! They would never be demons!
"R-Rina! Sora! Stop fighting!" I put a hand on each of their heads, trying to maybe give them nostalgia, because I used to do this to them a lot. They seem to stop for a little, and stare at me with wide eyes, tears starting to form in their eyes and roll down their cheeks. I soften my eyes and gently smile at them, caressing their hair as they start sobbing even more. I suddenly feel a presence, and widen my eyes and grab them both and roll away, hitting my back on a tree in the process. 'Owww, my spine feels like its broken. Anyways, who is this stranger now?'
"Why did you protect it?"
