My college love

Chapter 1- moving day

I groan as I walk down the stairs with the last box and drop it into the pile by the door. " This is the last one dad!" I yell from the bottom of the stairs.

My dad walks over to me. " I can't believe my baby is all grown up" he says. For the hundredth time today. I just smile up at him.

"You've already said that dad" I tease.

" I know I know, it's just not everyday your little girl turns into a women" he says.

" That's just weird dad, help me with the boxes" I laugh as I grab a few things taking them out to the trunk of my car. We do this a few times till all the boxes and bags are out of the house and put into the trunk and backseat of my car. " Thanks dad" I say as I give him a hug.

" You're welcome addi" I roll my eyes at my childhood nickname. See my name is Addison, but my dad likes to call me addi for some odd reason.

" Well I need to hit the road if I want to get there today" I sigh as I shut the trunk and turn to my teary eyed dad. " Don't cry dad, because then I'll cry"

" I'm sorry, I'm just going to miss you so much. It's going to be a lot quieter around here. And your mother would be so proud of you" he smiles

" I promise I'll call all the time" I smile as we walk to the driver side of the car. " And I hope she would be dad.." I say quietly, thinking about how I wish my mom was still alive to see me starting my life. She died when I was born, so It's always been me and my dad. Hint why he is so upset.

" You better! Or I'll come there looking for you" I just nod and smile as I climb into the car and start it.

" Love you dad" I smile as I start to drive. I look into the review mirror and see him still waving as I round the corner. I sigh. " Here goes the first day to the rest of your life" I mutter to myself as I start the four hour drive.
