As Blaze and I ran for our lives from the spirits, the trees attacked us. They were trying to catch us with their roots. I was wondering how can we run from a spirit? They catch us no matter what! Plus, my asthma would come out.
" Blaze, is there any reason to run from these things? Won't they catch us anyways?"
" We need to find a safe space! Like in a cave or a clear field! They are only able to control the plants! These are bad spirits, Colette! They don't have a lot of power!"
" Okay - okay, just hurry up before my asthma comes out, and I will die!"
" On it!" He answered as I saw that he was trying to find a good hiding place with all his power. Finally, the running paid off, and we found a field.
" There!" Said Blaze as his eyes caught our salvation. "Hold on, Colette! We are almost there!
As we arrived at the field, I finally stopped and tried to catch my breath with every strength I had. I didn't have my medicine in this world, so I had to be strong and control myself. I didn't have very bad asthma anyway; I didn't even take daily medicine, only when I was running, going on stairs, or being in an allergy season. This was a light sickness, but I still needed to pull myself together. Slowly and successfully, my breathing started normalizing; I knew I will be okay now. I looked at Blaze and signed to him that I was ready to go next. I still wanted to avoid talking so I could calm down completely. Thankfully, he understood, and he started to lead the way again. As we began to take our first steps in the distance, I saw a big black shade coming closer and closer, and I heard louder and louder horses galloping.
" Oh...Blaze...?"
" I know! I see them! Your knights!"
" What? Here? I thought no one was coming here!"
" Usually not! It looks like your mom is onto us!"
" Oh no! I knew she wouldn't stay away from me! What now? Back to the forest?"
" Where the evil spirits attack us? I don't think so!"
We saw that the nights were coming from one way and from the other; the spirits were attacking, and we had no idea where to go.
I started to believe that it was over. I will never know what the truth is. There is nowhere to go, and I'm risking that Blaze will be captured just like the other foxes. But then suddenly, I saw a man in the distance on a white horse galloping in our way. As he arrived next to us, thankfully quicker than the knights, he looked at us.
"Come! Quickly!" He said, and he offered his hand to me. I handed Blaze to him, then sat on the horse myself. He started to gallop in the forest through the spirits until we were safe from everything. When we finally stopped, I wanted to show my gratitude for the rescue mission.
"Thank you so much! I don't know what would have been happening if you didn't come to save us."
"Yeah! You would be busted! Luckily, I kept my eye on you!"
"You kept your eyes on me? Who are you?" I asked the unknown man as I was surprised.
"Of course, you don't remember me! My name is Jakob! We grew up together! I was the son of your mom's stable boy, and now I'm one. I always hoped one day you would wake up."
"We were friends? I'm so sorry, but I don't remember anything about my life here! But I'm thankful that you saved me!" I said, as I couldn't identify him in my other life.
"Never mind!" He said as he sat back on his horse, ready to leave.
"Wait! It doesn't mean that I don't want to be friends with you! Do you want to join us?"
"On your little suicidal journey? No thanks! I have my own problems! Good luck with your plan!"
"Wait! Maybe I can help you!" I tried to be kind and thankful to him, but in one moment, he saved me, and then the next time, he ignored me. This was strange.
"Good luck with your mission!" he said without acknowledging my offer, and then he galloped away.
"Well, this was strange!" I said to Blaze. "He was kind of cute, tough!"
"Forget about him! You are a princess! More so, the future queen! Your father would never agree to this!"
"I didn't say I wanted to be with him, and anyway, he didn't look like he was interested in me! I don't need anyone else but my mama!"
"This sounds pathetic."
"I missed her in my whole life! I don't want to waste my time on anyone else right now!"
"Okay! But we still need to figure out what has happened to you! So let's move! Now that we are safe,  we must continue our trip!" He said as he showed me the way. I couldn't help but look back at the man who was far away, then followed Blaze. I had a strange feeling that this was not the last time I saw him. I instantly connected with him, even if I didn't remember or know him from my previous life. But to be fair, he was kind of ignorant to me. And I only need to think of my mama right now. She is my past, present, and future. The reason why I didn't commit suicide a couple of months ago was because I wanted to hug her and tell her I love her with all my heart. I didn't have time and space in my heart for a boy at this time. While my head was full of thoughts like this because of a boy I had never seen before, we started to go deeper and deeper into the woods. Suddenly, Blaze stopped and looked at me.
"We're here!"
"Here? But nothing is here! Only a big old tree!"
"Exactly!" He said as he went closer to the tree.
"Are you telling me the tree is the witch?"
"Don't be silly, Colette! Trees are trees; how could they be witches?"
"Oh, my apologies! I never saw a talking tree here before!" Answered sarcastically, as I remembered back at Oakley.
"Trees are sage spirits, one with the universe and Mother Earth! On the other hand, witches and healers are gifted spirits who can choose to use their power for good or, unfortunately, evil."
"I will never understand why anyone would use a gift from God for evil."
"That's because you have too much light to understand this. They usually gain something! They don't work for free. But the good witches are, on the other hand, Doing everything to help. This doesn't suit everyone. People want power and money."
"I see people are the same here too."
He looked at me with understanding. Then he turned towards the tree.
"We are here to see the healer!" He started to talk to the tree. It suddenly started to move its leaves and then open its eyes.
"Do you have an appointment?"
"Appointment? In the middle of a magical forest for a witch? Is this some kind of joke?" I asked loudly with sarcasm as the tree looked angry at me.
"The healer has lots of clients! We do not accept anybody just like that!"
"Great!
"No, but look! I'm sure she will make an exception for her!"
"And you would be?" Asked the tree from me as it looked at me.
"She is Princess Katie." Answered Blaze.
"Is that so?" Asked the tree as it looked at me. "Well, come on in!" It said as its doors opened. I looked at Blaze and nodded that I was ready to know the truth. I started to feel the panic as we stepped into the unknown.
