Before Mon could figure out Sam's intention, she felt a force dragging her into the room. Sam threw the jacket aside and led her into the bathroom. Holding in the pain, Mon looked at her. "Khun Samn, we are divorced. I do not need to fulfill my duty as your wife anymore. I'll leave now."

As Sam pressed the knob of the shower, Mon shivered as the icy water poured all over her. Mon roared, "Samanan Anantrakul!" Sam clasped her face underneath the shower and stared at her. "Mon, didn't I tell you before not to let anyone touch you?"

The cold touch of Sam's fingertips traveled down her cheek like a serpent. It didn't matter what they were fighting over, for she was in one of her episodes again.

When they first dated, Sam wanted her to promise three things: no cheating, no touching other men or women, and no leaving.

Mon saw hints of Sam's extreme possessiveness from the beginning.

After all, she had killed off a family and turned them into ashes just because they slapped her. She'd also be cross when Mon shined at school.

Once, she fell during sports day, and a member of the organizing committee had to carry her to the health center on his back. It was that night that she witnessed Sam's dark side as she ordered her to wash herself clean.

Despite her explanations, Sam forced her to stand under the shower through the night.

After the cold shower, Mon felt nothing but excruciating pain.

"Turn it off! I feel cold! Khun Sam! It's fucking cold!"

Sam pushed her body against the cold tiles and flashed her a chilling smile. "Mon, would it help if I warmed you up with a hug?"

"Psycho! You fucking psycho!"

Trembling, she reached out to turn off the shower, but Sam spotted it quickly and held her arm over her head. The curves of her body looked perfect under the cascading water. Sam was similarly attractive. She pressed her warm body against hers in a flirtatious move.

Sam cocked her head and whispered into her ear, "Mon, you can only be mine even after the divorce. Have you forgotten about it?"

"Let me go! I told you nothing happened between me and that girl," Mon kept her temper under control because she didn't want to push her.

Sam smirked. "Why did you move into Wan apartment?" Sam had made a dubious claim, confusing her apartment with Wan's. But she didn't have time to go into the details.

Mon banged her left fist against her thigh to express her anger. She knew that it was useless but still better than not fighting back at all. "Khun Sam, you were the one who cheated and asked for a divorce first. And you are the one who's soon to be engaged. Please ask your attorney for the proper definition of divorce if you're confused! What right do you have to control me?!"

Mon confronted her with a teary voice. "Are you a tyrant or something? If you decided to leave my life, why did you barge in as you wished? If this is your new idea of torture, I'd rather be dead."

Sam kissed away her tears and answered coldly, "Mon, I gave you a chance, but you squandered it. Divorce is only separation in legal terms. You will live under my control for the rest of your life."

Mon suddenly recalled that, after that night standing under the shower, Sam had once asked her if she wanted to leave. Sam was a beast who would hurt her, and she was willing to send Mon away for her safety before she spiraled out of control.

"Do you remember what you said? You hugged me and said that we'd be together in sickness and in health. You said you wouldn't abandon me unless death parts us."

"What if I died?" Mon's almost inaudible mumble bounced off the walls of the bathroom, taking Sam by surprise. "You won't die because you have me."

Sure, Sam might have endless power and wealth that one could wish for, and she has access to the top medical resources in the world. But no doctor would guarantee success in treating late-stage cancer.

Sam might appear omnipotent, holding power over the life and death of other beings. But she was a mere mortal at the end of the day and powerless to save Mon from the hands of the Grim Reaper.

Mon chuckled. "Khun Sam, since my family owed you a life, shall I atone for that with my death?"

"Mon, I would have taken your life years ago if I wanted to. I hate you, but I love you at the same time. That's why I'm keeping you alive to punish you."

"Did you just say you love me?" Mon snorted. "If that's true, you wouldn't have betrayed me. I told you I wanted to build a mega-hospital with express access for the needy. So, you built a hospital worth a few billion and named a wing after Joanne. Not only that, when I said I wanted to build a water theme park for my baby, you built it and named the water theme park after your child too," shouted Mon. "I wanted to name our child Moson if the baby is a boy, but you stole that name for your child with Joanne too! Khun Sam, did you call that love?"

The icy water trickled down Sam's jaw. It was hard to see the emotions in her eyes because she was staring at the floor. She seemed to have a lot to say. She tried to open her mouth, but nothing came out in the end.

At first, she had wondered if Sam had a good reason for treating her in that manner. If not, given her character, she wouldn't have kept the passcode around.

Mon came out of the bathroom and left. She called Irin to pick her up.

"Are you okay, Mon?" asked Irin with a worried look.

"I'm okay. I want to go home. I feel tired now."

Irin brought Mon back to the apartment immediately.

Once there, Mon immediately lay down on the bed. Irin lay beside her.

"Irin, I will enter the hospital tomorrow and wait for the moment I leave this earth. Can you be by my side as long as I'm around?"

"Mon, you don't have to ask me to be by your side."

"Huh?" Mon raised her eyebrows.

"Because even without you asking for permission, I will always be by your side." Irin hugged Mon gently.

"Thank you, Irin. You are the best friend I have ever had. After I leave, please continue your life as usual. One day, we will meet again," said Mon. "I'm sorry if I did anything bad to you while I'm still alive."

Irin knocked Mon's head. "You don't have to apologize to me. You never did anything bad to me, Mon!"

"Okay," Mon chuckled.

Mon spent her time in the hospital accompanied by Irin and Kevin, her face getting paler day by day. Her body was getting weaker. Irin sobbed. She was not ready for the loss of Mon.

Mon smiled a little, seeing Irin crying. She was lying weakly on the bed while touching Irin's hair. "Irin, you are like a newborn baby. You've been crying a lot lately. Where has my very strong Irin gone?"
